 THE REFLECTION OF YOUR ACTIONS

 MATTHEW 12:33-37

“For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.”

Matthew 12:34b

There’s a story that some time ago, in a small and faraway town, there was an abandoned house. One day a little dog seeking shelter from the sun managed to wiggle through a hole in one of the doors of the house. The little dog slowly climbed the worn wooden stairs. At the top he came across a semi-open door; slowly he entered the room.

     To his surprise he realized that there were a thousand more small dogs in the room as well, all fixedly watching him as he watched them. The little dog began to wag his tail and raise his ears little by little. The thousand dogs did the same. Subsequently, he smiled and barked happily at one of them. The little dog was surprised to see that the thousand other dogs smiled at him and barked happily with him. When the little dog left the room he kept thinking to himself, “What a pleasant place…I’m going to return more often to visit!”

Sometime later another little street dog entered the same site and found the same room; but unlike the first, this little dog, on seeing the thousand others, felt threatened since they were watching him in an aggressive manner. Subsequently he began to growl; obviously he saw how the other thousand little dogs were growling at him. He began ferociously barking, and the other thousand small dogs barked at him as well. When this little dog left the room he thought, “What a horrible place this is…I’m never coming back here again!”

There was an old sign affixed to the front of the house which read: “The House of a Thousand Mirrors.” All of the faces in the world are mirrors. Decide what face you’ll carry inside yourself and that will be the face you’ll present. The reflection of your gestures and actions is what you project to others. 

Prayer:  Lord, we know we are not responsible for the face we have, but that we are responsible for the face we present. As we rise every day fill us with your love, so that we may go out into the world projecting the peace that You alone can give. Amen.

 EL REFLEJO DE TUS ACTOS

 MATEO 12:33-37

Se dice que hace tiempo, en un pequeño y lejano pueblo, había una casa abandonada. Cierto día, un perrito buscando refugio del sol, logró meterse por un agujero de una de las puertas de dicha casa. El perrito subió lentamente las viejas escaleras de madera. Al terminar de subirlas se topó con una puerta semi-abierta; lentamente se adentró en el cuarto. Para su sorpresa, se dio cuenta que dentro de ese cuarto habían mil perritos más, observándolo tan fijamente como él los observaba a ellos. El perrito comenzó a mover la cola y a levantar sus orejas poco a poco. Los mil perritos hicieron lo mismo. Posteriormente sonrió y les ladró alegremente a uno de ellos. El perrito se quedó sorprendido al ver que los mil perritos también le sonreían y ladraban alegremente con él. Cuando el perrito salió del cuarto se quedó pensando para sí mismo: "¡Qué lugar tan agradable... voy a venir más seguido a visitarlo!" Tiempo después, otro perrito callejero entró al mismo sitio y se encontró en el mismo cuarto. Pero a diferencia del primero, este perrito al ver a los otros mil perritos del cuarto se sintió amenazado ya que lo estaban viendo de una manera agresiva. Posteriormente empezó a gruñir, obviamente vio como los mil perritos le gruñían a él. Comenzó a ladrarles ferozmente y los otros mil perritos le ladraron también a él. Cuando este perrito salió del cuarto pensó: "¡Qué lugar tan horrible es éste... nunca más volveré a entrar allí!". En el frente de dicha casa se encontraba un viejo letrero que decía: “La casa de los mil espejos”. Todos los rostros del mundo son espejos. Decide cuál rostro llevarás por dentro y ese será el que mostrarás. El reflejo de tus gestos y acciones es lo que proyectas ante los demás.

Oración: Señor, sabemos que no somos responsables de la cara que tenemos, pero sí de la cara que ponemos. Al levantarnos cada día, llénanos de tu amor, para así salir al mundo y proyectar la paz que sólo tú puedes dar. Amén.
