CONFRONTING THE BAD DAYS
PSALM 27:1-5
“The Lord is my
light and my salvation,
whom shall I fear?”
Psalm 27:1
It is said that in the life
of every person there are good and bad days, and that we should take good
advantage of the former, because there will be no escape from the latter.
Upon Reading Psalm 27 we understand that its
author saw the bad day coming, but expressed his trust in God, the true
strength of life. His faith found in God a refuge symbolized by a place of
shelter: the tent or the rock, therefore he was unafraid when thinking about
the day of trial.
In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul evokes
that evil day as well. Thus, he stresses the need to be prepared for a
confrontation. On the one hand we should be steadfast, and on the other hand we
should resist. For that, we need to gird ourselves with all the “armor of God.”
Of all those resources with which God
prepares us to confront the evil days, let us especially make good use of reading
the Bible, which nourishes our souls, and of prayer, which keeps us in
permanent contact with God.
The secret of the believer’s strength is that
God is there for him, and that we can approach him at all times. If we take
advantage of these resources, then we will find help at the opportune time.
Prayer: Lord, help me to remember that you are always
there for me. You are my rock and my salvation. Speak to me through every
moment of daily devotion, whether through the reading of your word or through
prayer, and thus prepare me to confront the evil days. Amen.

LOS DÍAS MALOS
SALMO 27:1-5
“El Señor
es la fortaleza de mi vida;
¿de quién he
de atemorizarme?”
Salmo 27: 1
Se dice que en la vida de toda
persona existen días buenos y días malos, que es necesario aprovechar al máximo
los primeros, pues no se podrá escapar a los segundos.
Al leer el Salmo 27 comprendemos
que su autor, veía venir el día malo,
pero expresaba su confianza en Dios, la verdadera fortaleza de la vida. Su fe
encontraba en Dios un refugio simbolizado por un lugar de abrigo: la
tienda o la roca. Por lo tanto, no temía al pensar en el día de la
prueba.
Pablo también en la carta a los
Efesios evoca ese día malo. De ahí la necesidad
de estar preparados para una confrontación Por una parte debemos estar firmes y por la
otra resistir. Para ello es necesario estar revestidos de toda “armadura de
Dios”.
De todos esos recursos con los
que Dios nos prepara para hacer frente a los días malos, aprovechemos
especialmente la lectura de la Biblia, la cual alimenta nuestra alma; y la oración que nos mantiene en contacto permanente
con Dios.
El secreto de la fuerza del
creyente es que Dios está ahí para él y que en todo tiempo puede ponerse en
contacto con Él. Si aprovechamos estos recursos, entonces hallaremos el socorro
en tiempo oportuno.
Oración: Señor, ayúdame a recordar que
siempre estás ahí para mí. Tú eres mi roca y mi salvación. Permite que en cada
momento de devoción diaria, ya sea a través de la lectura de tu palabra o de la
oración, tú me hables y me prepares para hacer frente a los días malos. Amén.
