A PROMISING SILENCE

     PSALM  37: 1-7

 Be still before the LORD, and wait patiently for him;

Psalm 37: 7a

How difficult silence is for the majority of Cubans!

Havana-Matanzas trips in a crowded vehicle amounts to a boisterous two-hour ride.  You walk into a place where there are more than two people, and you find out everything that’s going on. At other times it’s our inner ruckus inside that blocks all thought.

Often in our prayers we want to ask God for so many things that we don’t hear his “voice.” We lose hope because evildoers supposedly live better; we complain because the wicked achieve success and criminals are not punished. How many times have we heard people say, “If God exists, why do these things happen?”  Have we ever had that thought?

The 37^th Psalm gives the answer. That’s why I want to emphasize the message: Trust in the LORD, and do good; so you will live in the land, and enjoy security.  Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.  Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act. And that which for me is the most revealing: Keep silence before the Lord.

In each devotional period that we have, let us keep silence, allow disturbing thoughts to pass, so that our anxiety may disappear. When our mind and heart are clean, we will hear the tranquil voice of God and his peace will wash over us and we will realize that He is with us.

Prayer: Lord, teach me to keep silence and to listen to you.  Amen.

UN SILENCIO PROMETEDOR

     SALMO  37: 1-7

Guarda silencio ante el Señor, espera

con paciencia a que El te ayude.

                                                                                                   Salmo 37: 7ª

¡Qué difícil es para la mayoría de los cubanos  el silencio!

Los viajes Habana-Matanzas en un “almendrón” constituyen un espacio bullicioso  de dos horas. Entras  en un lugar donde haya más  de dos personas y  te enteras de todo lo que hablan. Otras veces es la bulla interior la que bloquea todo pensamiento.

Muchas veces en nuestras oraciones  queremos pedirle tantas cosas a Dios, que no escuchamos  su “voz.”. Nos desesperamos porque supuestamente los que hacen mal viven mejor, nos duele que los malvados alcancen el éxito y los malhechores no sean castigados.

¡Cuántas veces hemos oído decir: Si Dios existe por qué pasan esas cosas! ¿Lo hemos pensado nosotros alguna vez?

El salmo 37 da la respuesta. Por eso quiero destacar su mensaje: Confía en el Señor y haz lo bueno, mantente fiel. Ama al Señor con ternura y el cumplirá tus deseos más profundos.  Pon la vida en las manos del Señor, confía en él, y él vendrá en tu ayuda. Y lo que para mí es lo ms revelador: Guarda silencio ante el Señor.

En cada tiempo devocional que hagamos, guardemos silencio, dejemos que los pensamientos perturbadores pasen, que la ansiedad desaparezca. Cuando nuestra mente y corazón estén limpios escucharemos la voz  tranquilizadora de Dios y su paz nos inundará y nos daremos cuenta que Él está con nosotros.

Oración: Señor, enséñame a guardar silencio y escucharte. Amén
