PROLONGED SILENCES
PSALM 138:7-8
…do not abandon the works
of your hands.
Psalm 138:8
Things do not turn out the way you’d hoped. Desperation inundates your body; your mind
understands one thought alone; that which once and again tries to decipher the
right way to resolve the many problems that you face and for which you cannot
find a solution.
Because there are moments in life when it
seems that everything is against you; things go from bad to worse and a
desperate question arises in your mind: Where is God? This is because at times his silence becomes
painful.
I know the feeling; we have all been there at
that same moment when it feels like God has hidden himself and when you cannot
find any responses.
Prolonged silences cause pain at times: the
pain of feeling abandoned or forgotten. And yet, even though it may not seem
like it, we are not alone.
We do not have an explanation for why God is
silent for so long. But we can be sure
that in spite of that prolonged silence of God, He has never abandoned us, and
his response will always arrive at the right time.
There are times when we wish his responses
came more quickly, and that he would not allow us to suffer so much. But at the
same time I understand that if God allows it, it’s because he is working within
me. If everything were so easy, our
faith would not be strong. What truly
strengthens our faith is when the answer takes a long time. Let us not stop
believing; let us not stop trusting. May God’s silence not be a motive for
discouragement. He remains by your side.
Prayer: Lord, when we are confronted by a lack
of response, grant that we may not despair or become discouraged. Help us to hope and to trust in your timing. Amen.

abandones, porque tú me creaste
Salmo 138:8
Las cosas no salen como lo
esperabas, una desesperación inunda tu cuerpo, tu mente capta solamente el
mismo pensamiento, ese que una y otra vez trata de descifrar la forma correcta de salir de tantos
problemas que enfrentas y no encuentras solución.
Y es que hay momentos en la
vida en donde pareciera que todo se pone en tu contra, las cosas se ponen de
mal en peor y te surge una pregunta desesperada: ¿Dónde está Dios? Y es que su
silencio a veces se hace doloroso.
Sé lo que se siente, todos hemos
estado parados allí en ese mismo momento donde
parece que Dios se ha ocultado y
donde no encuentras respuestas.
Los silencios prolongados a
veces causan dolor, dolor de sentirse abandonado u olvidado. Sin embargo,
aunque no lo parezca, no estamos solos.
No podríamos explicarnos por
qué Dios calla por tanto tiempo. Pero de lo que sí podemos estar seguros es que a pesar de ese silencio prolongado de Dios,
nunca nos ha abandonado, y siempre va a llegar a tiempo.
A veces quisiéramos que sus
respuestas fueran más rápidas, y que no nos dejara sufrir tanto; pero al mismo tiempo entiendo que si Dios así
lo permite, es que está trabajando en mí. Si todo fuera tan fácil, nuestra fe
no fuera fuerte. Lo que verdaderamente fortalece nuestra fe es el tiempo que
tarda la respuesta. No dejemos de creer,
no dejemos de confiar. Que el silencio de Dios no sea motivo de desánimo. Él
sigue estando de tu lado
Oración: Señor,
no permitas que ante la falta de respuestas, nos desesperemos y nos
desanimemos. Ayúdanos a esperar y a confiar en tu tiempo. Amén.
