THE CHRISTIAN IN
SOCIETY
1 TIMOTHY 2:1-7
First of all, then,
I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions,
and thanksgivings
be made for everyone,
1 Timothy 2:1
This text selected for today’s meditation is a call to
prayer for the culture in which we live. We all suffer from, comment on and
criticize the flaws, failures, and the loss of ethical values in today’s
society. We judge like spectators in a great theater and often believe
ourselves to be outside of and above the show.
How many of us pray with fervor, faith and confidence to improve
our social context? Prayer is the effective way to find wisdom and strength in
our actions for the sake of influencing our culture, and hand in hand with it
is education in the values which we have learned from Jesus.
A community that calls itself Christian cannot live at the
edges of society. It must take an active part in the solution of problems and
watch over the spiritual life of the community. It must keep watch that every
member of the Christian community is a responsible citizen who strives for the
dignity and tranquility of society. The principal task and the condition for a
better society is the missionary work that leaves the churches in order to
carry the Gospel to all who need it.
In today’s meditation we ought to ask ourselves, What act,
no matter how small, can I do in order to transform our society?
Prayer: God of justice and love, give us the gift to fulfill your
evangelizing mission and keep us in prayer that we may fulfill your will in our
social action. In
Jesus’ name, Amen.

EL CRISTIANO EN LA SOCIEDAD
1 TIMOTEO 2: 1-7
Ante todo recomiendo que hagan peticiones, oraciones,
súplicas y acciones de gracia a Dios por toda la humanidad.

Este texto seleccionado para
la meditación de hoy es un llamado a
orar por la sociedad en que vivimos. Todos sufrimos, comentamos y criticamos
los defectos y la pérdida de
valores éticos en la sociedad actual. Enjuiciamos como espectadores en un gran
teatro y muchas veces nos creemos fuera
y por encima del espectáculo.
¿Cuántos de nosotros oramos
con fervor , fe y confianza para mejorar
nuestro contexto social?
La oración es el medio eficaz
para encontrar sabiduría y fuerzas en la acción para .influir en la sociedad. Y
por otra parte la educación en los valores que hemos aprendido de Jesús.
Una comunidad que se llame
cristiana no puede vivir al margen de la sociedad. Debe tomar parte activa en
la solución de los problemas y velar por la vida espiritual de su comunidad.
Debe velar porque cada miembro de la comunidad
cristiana sea un ciudadano responsable que
se esfuerce por la dignidad y tranquilidad de la sociedad. La principal
misión y la condición para una sociedad mejor es la obra misionera, que sale de
los templos para llevar el Evangelio a todos los necesitados.
En la meditación de hoy
debemos preguntarnos ¿Que acción llevo a cabo, por pequeña que sea, para
transformar nuestra sociedad?
Oración: Dios de justicia y amor, concédenos cumplir la misión
evangelizadora en la sociedad y mantenernos en oración para cumplir tu voluntad en nuestra acción
social. Por Jesús. Amén
