STRENGTH AND
COURAGE
JOSHUA 1:1-9
Only be strong and
very courageous, being careful to act in accordance
with all the law
that my servant Moses commanded you.
Joshua 1:7
Strength and courage. So easy to say! But how difficult when
the task entrusted to is so much beyond our own ability to respond. Joshua had
been the second in command, and now had to assume the mission of leading the
people in the conquest of the Promised Land and enforcing all the commandments
entrusted to Moses. What do these verses teach us?
The task that must be completed is not simply the conquest
of territory, it is the fulfillment of God’s plan. Although the mission may be
greater than human capability, we must trust in the strength of the Lord.
The secret of victory is in strength and courage.
Faithfulness to God is the indispensable condition of achieving the goal.
Strength and faithfulness to God are necessary for the people of Israel, not
only for the conquest, but what is more difficult, for the fulfillment of the
Law, of the commandments, of the will of the Lord.
We also have a mission: to share the good news of Jesus
Christ, and convey hope and salvation. We need strength and faithfulness in
order to search out and to fulfill his will. No matter how difficult the task.
God tells us, do not be frightened or
dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.

VALOR Y FIRMEZA
JOSUÉ 1:1-9
Lo único que te pido es que tengas mucho valor y firmeza,
y que cumplas toda la ley que mi siervo Moisés te dio.
Josué 1:7
Valor y firmeza. ¡Qué fácil es
decirlo! Pero qué difícil cuando la tarea
encomendada está más allá de nuestra respuesta individual. Josué había sido el
segundo al mando y ahora tiene que asumir
la misión de dirigir al pueblo en la conquista de la tierra prometida y hacer cumplir los
mandamientos entregados a Moisés. ¿Qué nos enseñan estos versos?
La tarea que se debe
cumplir no es simplemente la conquista
de tierras, es dar cumplimiento al proyecto de Dios Aunque la misión sea superior a la capacidad
humana, debemos confiar en el poder del Señor.
El secreto del triunfo está en
el valor y la firmeza. La fidelidad a
Dios es la condición indispensable para alcanzar la meta.
El valor y la fidelidad a Dios
eran necesarias para el pueblo de
Israel, no solo para la conquista, sino para algo más difícil: el cumplimiento de la ley, de los
mandamientos, de la voluntad del Señor.
Nosotros tenemos también una
misión: compartir la buena nueva de Jesucristo, y llevar esperanza y salvación. Necesitamos valor y
fidelidad para buscar y cumplir su voluntad. No importa lo difícil de la
misión. Dios nos dice: No tengas miedo,
ni te desanimes porque yo, tu Señor y Dios, estaré contigo donde quiera que
vayas.
Oración: Gracias Señor, por elegirnos y por tu permanente
presencia. Amén
