WE HAVE BEEN CALLED BY GOD

ISAIAH 41:10

You did not choose me but I chose you.

John 15:16a

Not long ago, a friend in my community told me that for some time he had it in mind to resign from the job that he had held for a while because he hadn’t achieved what he had expected, despite the fact that at other times he considered it his greatest accomplishment.

This situation has become something quite common in our times. People expect to see great results in what they do; we wish that things would be different than what they actually are. Ultimately, this makes us disappointed and leads us to think that we were not called to do this work.

Later, reflecting on this, I perceived that perhaps God, without that friend’s noticing it, had put him there. Only God knows why. Why do we doubt our calling? Why turn our backs on it? Why throw in the towel now? Don’t you see that God himself put you there? Is it because the criticisms hurt you? Is it because you don’t see the results you want to see? Relax. That’s doesn’t mean that there aren’t any results.

Friends, God sees in you more than flaws; God sees virtues which, when dusted off and put to work, will be of great use. I invite you to reflect and to think of how blessed you are to have been called by God. Never doubt in that call; on the contrary, feel doubly blessed by having been called by God to labor in his works. It is God who put you in that place, who believed in you, who has supported you from that day until now, and who will never abandon you.

Prayer: Lord, don’t allow apathy, the loss of faith in you and the small recognition of others to cause us to flag in the work to which you have called us for yourself.  Amen.

FUIMOS LLAMADOS POR DIOS

ISAIAS 41:10

Ustedes no me eligieron a mí, sino que fui yo

quien los eligió a ustedes.

Me comentaba hace poco un hermano de mi comunidad  que desde hacía algún tiempo tenía en mente la idea de renunciar al trabajo que venía realizando desde  algún tiempo atrás pues no había alcanzado los resultados que esperaba, a pesar de que en algún momento lo consideró como uno de sus mayores logros. 

Esta situación se ha convertido en algo bastante común en nuestros días. La personas esperamos ver mejores resultados en lo que hacemos, quisiéramos  que las cosas fueran diferentes a como lo son actualmente. Y esto al final nos hace decepcionarnos y pensar que quizás no fuimos llamados a realizar esta labor.

Reflexionando después me percaté de que Dios, quizás sin que el mismo lo notara, lo puso ahí. Sólo Él sabe el por qué. ¿Por qué dudamos de nuestro llamado? ¿Por qué renunciar? ¿Por qué tirar la toalla  ahora? ¿Acaso no ves que  Dios mismo te puso allí? ¿Es porque te duelen las críticas? ¿Es porque no ves los resultados  que tú quisieras ver? Tranquilo. Eso no quiere decir que no haya ningún resultado.

Hermano y hermana, Dios vio en ti más allá de los defectos, las virtudes que al ser desempolvadas y puestas en práctica para su obra, le son de mucha utilidad. Te invito a reflexionar y a que pienses en lo bendecido que eres de haber sido llamado por Dios. Jamás dudes de ese  llamado, al contrario, siéntete doblemente bendecido por haber sido llamado por Él a trabajar en su obra. Él fue quien te puso en ese lugar, quien creyó en ti, quien te  ha respaldado hasta el día de hoy y quien no te abandonará nunca.

Oración: Señor, no permitas que la apatía, la falta de confianza en ti y el poco reconocimiento de los demás, nos hagan decaer en el trabajo para el cual fuimos llamados por ti. Amén.
