TO BE CONSISTENT

MATTHEW  7: 7–12

All you need to say is simply yes or no;

How can we be consistent? Is our action consistent with the teachings and the life of Jesus?

It’s very easy to say to others what we’d like them to hear, and act as it most pleases us. It’s very easy to pretend to agree, or to be involved always without truly participating in anything. It’s very easy to shout out loud, “I’m a Christian!” But how hard it truly is to be consistent with what we say, with what we think, with that in which we participate, in what we defend.

How easy it is to want to be treated well and to feel oneself in the right place; but how difficult it is not to reject, not to exclude, not to marginalize, not to place obstacles. It’s difficult to recognize virtues, capabilities, feelings in others. How difficult it is to do for our neighbor what we want him to do for us.

What’s certain is that Jesus transcends, as a model of consistent attitude, with his mission, with his Father, with his neighbor, and with us his followers.

Endeavor to think, act, and be consistent with Jesus and his teachings. Treat others as you want to be treated, and one day the world will be better.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, you, who were the model of consistency with the Father who sent you, guide us in such a way that we can be truly consistent with your teachings and your life. Amen.

SER COHERENTES

MATEO 7:7–12

Baste con decir claramente ‘si’ o ‘no’.

Pues lo que se aparta de esto, es malo.

¿Cómo podemos ser coherentes? ¿Es nuestra actuación coherente con las enseñanzas y la vida de Jesús?

Es muy fácil decir a los demás lo que nos conviene que escuchen, y realmente actuar como mejor nos plazca. Es muy fácil aparentar estar de acuerdo o estar en todo, sin verdaderamente participar en nada. Es muy fácil proclamar a toda voz ¡Soy cristiano!, pero qué difícil es verdaderamente ser coherente con lo que decimos, con lo que pensamos, en lo que participamos, en lo que defendemos. Qué fácil es querer ser tratados bien y sentirse en el lugar que creo debo estar, pero qué difícil es no rechazar, no excluir, no marginar, no poner zancadillas; difícil es reconocer virtudes, capacidades, sentimientos en la otro o el otro. Qué difícil es lograr hacer con nuestro prójimo lo que quisiéramos que él hiciera con nosotros. 

Cierto es que Jesús trasciende como modelo de actitud coherente con su misión, con el Padre, con el prójimo y con nosotros sus seguidores.

Procura pensar, actuar y ser coherente con Jesús y sus enseñanzas, trata a los demás como quieres ser tratado y el mundo algún día será mejor.

Oración: Señor Jesús, tú que fuiste modelo de coherencia con el Padre que te envió, guíanos de tal manera, para que podamos ser verdaderamente personas coherentes con tus enseñanzas y tu vida. Amén.
