RENEWED STRENGTH

PSALM 18:1-3

The Lord is my solid rock, my fortress, my rescuer….

It is said that author Robert Louis Stevenson always said when he was feeling overwhelmed: “I will deploy my wings!” There was something more than poetry in this expression: it was an attitude toward life. This man never let pessimism or defeat overcome him.  

Every time that it seemed he would be defeated by life, he rose up with renewed strength. Stevenson overcame daily problems thanks to the vigor of the wings of his spirit. In spite of being gravely ill, he became an inspiration to other people. His face was always happy and his life radiated hope and strength.

The fact of knowing the love of God gives us the challenge of living in a different manner than others. It is not that we have a “shield” against problems, but yes, we have a Friend who gives us his hand in difficult moments and helps us continue forward with renewed strength. Deploy your wings, always trusting in God!

Prayer: Thank you for friendship, good and gracious God. Thank you for the strength that you give me for my daily life. Enable me to deploy my wings each day, trusting in you. Amen.

FUERZAS RENOVADAS

SALMO  18:1-3

Jehová, roca mía y castillo mío…

Se dice que el escritor Robert Louis Stevenson exclamaba siempre que se sentía agobiado: “Desplegaré mis alas”. Esta expresión encerraba algo más que poesía: era una actitud ante la vida; este hombre nunca se dejó vencer por el pesimismo o por la derrota.

Cada vez que parecía que iba a ser derrotado por la vida, se levantaba con fuerzas renovadas.

Stevenson superaba los problemas diarios gracias al vigor de las alas de su espíritu. A pesar de estar gravemente enfermo se convirtió en inspiración para otras personas.  Su rostro siempre estaba feliz y su vida era radiante de esperanza y fuerza.

El hecho de conocer el amor de Dios nos plantea el reto de vivir de una manera diferente a las demás personas. No es que tengamos un “resguardo” contra los problemas, pero sí tenemos un Amigo que nos da la mano en los momentos difíciles y nos ayuda a seguir adelante con fuerzas renovadas. ¡Despliega tus alas, confiando siempre en Dios!

Oración: Gracias por tu amistad, buen Dios. Gracias por las fuerzas que me das en el diario vivir. Permite que cada día pueda desplegar mis alas, confiando en ti. Amén
