THERE IS A WAY

JOHN 14:1-14

Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies;

make your way straight before me. (NRSV)

Psalm 5:8

Today we live with a certain amount of instability. Many insecurities and uncertainties are all around us: wars, economic problems, and illnesses; we see despair, lack of faith and love. Often, we are wrapped up in thinking of ourselves and we forget about other people. Likewise, we set our hearts on insignificant matters and not on what is truly important.

Regrettably, we don’t always see clearly; when we are confused we say the same thing that Philip did: Lord, we don’t know where you are going; how are we going to follow you? We can’t find the way; it’s hidden. At that moment, Jesus’ reply echoes in the form of a promise: I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by me.

John not only shows that Jesus Christ is God, but he indicates that who believes in Him can find salvation. He is the Way, not one of many ways. He is the Truth, not one of many truths. He himself is Life who delivers it to all. Are we willing to surrender ours in favor of his creation? Let’s reflect and act accordingly with his grace and his peace.

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for being my way, my truth, and my life to lead me to the Father. Never let me stray from you so that I may share this gift with all your creation. Amen.

HAY UN CAMINO

JUAN 14:1-14

Señor, guíame en tu justicia, llévame por el buen camino.

Salmo 5:8

Vivimos hoy tiempos con cierta inestabilidad. Muchas inseguridades e incertidumbres rondan a nuestro alrededor:  guerras, problemas económicos, enfermedades. Vemos desesperanzas, falta de fe y amor. Muchas veces estamos pensando constantemente en nosotros y nos olvidamos de los otros. Igualmente tenemos nuestro corazón en cosas insignificantes y no en las que verdaderamente son importantes.

Lamentablemente, no siempre vemos claro, cuando estamos confundidos decimos al igual que Felipe: Señor, no sabemos a dónde vas, ¿cómo vamos a seguirte?  No encuentro el camino, está muy oscuro.  Resuena en ese momento la respuesta del Señor en forma de promesa: Yo soy el Camino, la Verdad y la Vida, nadie va al Padre sino por mí.

Juan no solo nos muestra que Jesucristo es Dios, sino que nos indica que creyendo en Él se puede hallar la salvación, Él es el Camino y no uno de los caminos, Él es la Verdad y no una de las verdades, Él es la Vida en sí mismo que la entrega para todos. ¿Estamos dispuestos nosotros a entregar la nuestra en favor de su creación? Reflexionemos y actuemos en correspondencia con su gracia y su paz.

Oración: Gracias Señor, por ser mi camino, mi verdad y mi vida para llegar hasta el Padre. Permite que nunca me aleje de ti y que sepa compartir este regalo con toda tu creación. Amén.
