BUILD YOUR HOUSE

1 CORINTHIANS 3:12–15

Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them

 will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. (NRSV)

Try to guess which story contains the following characters:

The principals in the story are builders, each one building a house. Not all the houses are built alike: the one builder was wise in the ways of construction, and the other stupid. Each house confronted a test. If the house was constructed wisely, it endured; if it was built foolishly, it fell.

Do you know the story? It’s the story of the three little pigs. Each pig built his own house. One made it with straw and leaves, the second with sticks, and the third with stones and bricks. Each faces the big, bad wolf; it’s the same threat for all three.

We’re all building houses, but to understand this we must replace the word “house” with the word “character” or “soul.” We are all constructing a life, especially with the choices we make. The nature of the decisions you make will determine the nature of your character, your soul. The wolf knocks on every door and can blow fiercely, but the important thing is: On what foundation are you going to build your life? In whom will you place your trust?

Don’t forget that no one who has built his house on the true understanding of Jesus’ words has ever been disappointed.

Prayer: Thank you, Father, for our foundation and our confidence. Don’t let us build our house apart from you. Amen.

 FABRICA TU CASA

1 CORINTIOS 3:12–15

El que me oye y hace lo que yo digo, es como un hombre

prudente que construyó su casa sobre la roca.

Intenta adivinar de qué cuento son los siguientes personajes de la historia… Los personajes principales de la historia son constructores, cada uno de ellos construye una casa. No todas las casas se construyen iguales, hay un constructor entre la sabia construcción y la construcción tonta. Cada casa enfrenta una prueba. Si la casa se construyó sabiamente, permanece, si se construyó tontamente, se cae.

¿Conoces a los personajes? Es la historia de los tres cerditos. Cada cerdito fabrica su casa. Uno la fabrica con pajas y hojas, otro la fabrica con ramas y el otro con piedras y ladrillos. Cada uno encara al gran lobo malo, es la misma amenaza para los tres.

Todos nosotros fabricamos casas, para entender esto podríamos reemplazar la palabra “casa” por “carácter” o “alma”. Todos estamos construyendo una vida, lo hacemos, sobre todo, con las decisiones que tomamos. La calidad de las decisiones que usted tome determinará la calidad de su carácter, de su alma. El lobo toca a todas las puertas y puede soplar fuertemente, pero lo importante es: ¿Sobre qué fundamento vas a fabricar tu vida? ¿En quién depositas tu confianza? No olvides que nadie que haya construido su casa sobre la comprensión verdadera de las palabras de Jesús ha salido decepcionado.

Oración: Gracias Padre, por ser nuestro fundamento y nuestra confianza. No permitas que construyamos nuestra casa fuera de ti. Amén.
