ACCOMPANIMENT, SUPPORT, AND CARE

2 CORINTHIANS 13: 11-13

Greet one another with a holy kiss.

2 Corinthians 13: 12 (NIV)

In Paul’s day, going from one place to another was a major undertaking, requiring a long time and a lot of resources. He accompanied, supported, and encouraged with letters the various Christian communities that were being established. Today it’s a little easier to visit different communities but it is not always possible to do so. 

However, we often fail to take advantage of the ease of communication given to us by technology. If it is hard to visit brothers and sisters in other communities, at least we can keep in touch with them. Thus we can accompany, support, and encourage one another. A telephone call, a letter, or a text message can make a person’s day brighter regardless of distance and can provide feedback to our faith. That is the way our God of peace unites us in his love.

Prayer: God of peace, we ask you to intercede for our brothers and sisters in the faith. Be with those persons who need you. Use us to strengthen the bonds of your love. Amen.

En tiempos de Pablo trasladarse de un lugar a otro era engorroso, se necesitaba mucho tiempo y recursos para ello. Éste acompañaba, apoyaba y alentaba a través de sus cartas a las diferentes comunidades cristianas que se iban fundando. Hoy puede resultar un poco más fácil ir a visitar diferentes comunidades pero aun así no siempre tenemos la posibilidad de hacerlo. 

Sin embargo en muchas ocasiones tampoco aprovechamos la facilidad de comunicación que la tecnología nos ha permitido. Si se nos dificulta visitar, al menos podemos mantener comunicación con hermanos y hermanas de la fe en otras comunidades. Así nos acompañamos, apoyamos y alentamos mutuamente. Una llamada telefónica, una carta o un mensaje puede alegrar la vida de otras personas sin importa la distancia y puede retroalimentar nuestra fe. También así actúa el Dios de paz y nos une en su amor.

Oración: Dios de paz, te pedimos por nuestros hermanos y hermanas de la fe. Sé también con aquellas personas que tienen necesidad de ti. Úsanos para estrechar los lazos de tu amor. Amén.
