CALL ME

LUKE 11:9-13

Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.

Psalm 50:15 (NRSV)

            “Call me, and let’s get something to eat.” “Call me, and we can talk more.” “Call me if you need anything.” How many times have we said these words or heard them? The expression “Call me” which has so much relevance has become so common that we hardly notice it.

            However, when God says he wants us to cry out to him, call on him, he is speaking the truth.  He must walk close by, inclining his ear, waiting, longing to hear the sound of his name coming from our lips. He is prepared to free us from our burdens, or at least to carry us in his lap until we pass through to safety.

            David cried to God in his difficulties. He had created some of those problems himself, while others were out of his control. It’s good that God doesn’t distinguish between the punishments we deserve and those we don’t. As far as he is concerned we are his sons and daughters whom he loves and wants to help in any way possible. Although he doesn’t choose to fix things with the snap of his fingers, we can be certain that he will see to it that we get to the other side by a smoother path than if we had traveled without him. He is waiting to help us. The only thing we must do is ask.

Prayer: Beloved God, I am so happy that I can call on you at any time, dealing with any kind of problem. Amen.

LLÁMAME

LUCAS 11:9-13

Invócame en el día de la angustia; yo te libraré y tú me honrarás

Salmo 50:15

“Llámame y comemos”, “Llámame y conversamos más”, “Llámame si necesitas algo”, ¿Cuántas veces hemos pronunciado estas palabras o las hemos escuchado? Este vocablo: “Llámame”, que tiene tanta relevancia, se ha convertido en algo tan común que apenas pensamos en ello.

Sin embargo, cuando Dios dice que quiere que clamemos a Él, que lo llamemos, lo dice en verdad. Debe andar cerca, inclinando su oído, esperando, anhelando escuchar el sonido de su nombre saliendo de nuestros labios. Está preparado para librarnos de nuestras dificultades, o al menos, de llevarnos en su regazo mientras la atravesamos para ponernos a salvo.

David clamó a Dios en sus dificultades. Algunos de esos problemas se los había creado él mismo, mientras que otros escapaban de su control. Es bueno que Dios no distinga entre los castigos que merecemos y los que no. En lo que a Él respecta, somos sus hijos e hijas, nos ama y quiere ayudarnos de cualquier forma posible. Aunque no escoge siempre arreglar las cosas con un chasquido de sus dedos, podemos estar seguros de que Él se ocupará de que lleguemos al otro lado por una senda más suave que si hubiéramos viajado sin Él. Está esperando para ayudarnos. Lo único que tenemos que hacer es llamar.

Oración: Querido Dios, estoy tan contenta de poder llamarte en cualquier momento, estando en cualquier tipo de problemas. Amén.
