RISE TOWARD GOD

COLOSSIANS 3:1-4

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth,

Colossians 3:2 (NRSV)

            If you have ever flown in an airplane, you know with one glance out the window at thirty thousand feet of altitude, how small the world appears. With your feet on the ground it is possible to feel small in a big world, and it’s easy for the challenges of life and the circumstances of daily living to put pressure on you. But if you look from above the clouds, things may become clear simply by being able to be above it all.

            Sometimes, the most difficult challenges you face develop in your own head where the struggle to control results and resolve the details of life can consume you. When you get out of the details and get enough distance on them, you can perceive things from a higher perspective. Close your eyes and push away the thoughts that try to grab hold of you and keep you tied to the affairs of the world.

            Rise toward God and let your spirit fly. Give your worries to God and let him work out the details. Rest in Him, and he will raise you above everything each step of the way.

Prayer: God, you are far above any detail of life that concerns me. Help me to trust in you for answers to the things that seem to overwhelm me. I deliberately put my heart and mind in you today. Amen.

Piensen en las cosas del cielo, no en las de la tierra

Colosenses 3:2

Si has viajado alguna vez en avión sabes con solo una mirada por la ventanilla, a treinta mil pies de altura, lo pequeño que se ve el mundo. Con los pies en la tierra, es posible que tú te sientas pequeño en un mundo grande, y resulta fácil que los desafíos de la vida y las circunstancias del día a día te presionen. Pero si miras desde por encima de las nubes, las cosas se pueden volver claras al tener la oportunidad de situarte por encima de todo.

A veces, los desafíos más difíciles a los que te enfrentarás se desarrollan en tu cabeza, donde la lucha por controlar el resultado y resolver los detalles de la vida te pueden consumir. Cuando sales de los detalles y te alejas lo bastante de ellos, puedes ver las cosas desde una perspectiva más alta. Cierra los ojos y empuja los pensamientos que intentan agarrarte y mantenerte atado a las cosas del mundo.

Elévate hacia Dios y deja volar tu espíritu. Entrégale tus preocupaciones y déjale resolver los detalles. Descansa en Él y Él te llevará más arriba de todo en cada paso del camino.

Oración: Dios, tú estás muy por encima de cualquier detalle de la vida que me concierne. Ayúdame a confiar en ti hoy para las respuestas a estas cosas que parecen hundirme. Deliberadamente pongo mi corazón y mi mente en ti, hoy. Amén.
