TO BE PREPARED

MATTHEW 2 4: 43-44

Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard;

hold it fast and repent. But if you do not wake up

I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.

Revelation 3:3

To keep guard is nothing pleasant; at times it becomes something boring, but at the same time it’s a great responsibility. There’s always an inner voice that says, “Just stop guarding,” but what if something happens?

Every morning from the patio of my house I hear the morning’s goings-on of a primary school. and each day I hear the Moncada pioneers repeat the slogan “Always ready.” What does this slogan mean? One supposes that it’s about always being prepared. Jesus exhorts us to be prepared. Prepared for what? The phrase appears in the context of the announcement of the coming of the Son of Man and the faithfulness in service

And that’s it precisely, the call Jesus makes to the disciples with the announcement of his return. More than something frightening, it’s the call to live a life of responsibility. Responsibility for myself and toward others. If we’re not responsible for ourselves, how then will we be responsible toward others? The responsibility toward ourselves flows through the responsibility for our health and with our spiritual life. We are a unit, although our life may have different dimensions. What’s certain is that we need to be prepared for everything.

Prayer:  Beloved God, in this time of Advent I ask myself “What should I improve to be prepared?” Make known to me where my errors and faults are. Amen.

ESTAR PREPARADOS

MATEO 24: 43-44

Acuérdate, pues, de lo que has recibido y oído;

guárdalo y arrepiéntete, pues si no vendré sobre ti

como ladrón y no sabrás a qué hora vendré sobre ti.

 Apocalipsis 3:3

Hacer guardia no es nada agradable, a veces se torna en algo aburrido; pero a la vez es una gran responsabilidad, siempre hay una voz interior que te dice: “Deja ya la guardia”; pero ¿y si pasa algo?

Desde el patio de mi casa cada mañana escucho el matutino de una escuela primaria y los pioneros moncadistas repiten cada día el lema “Siempre listos”, ¿Qué sentido tiene este lema?  Se supone que es el de estar siempre preparados. Jesús nos exhorta a estar preparados. ¿Preparados para qué? La frase aparece en el contexto del anuncio de la venida del Hijo del Hombre y la fidelidad en el servicio.

Y es que precisamente, el llamado que Jesús les hace a los discípulos con el anuncio de su regreso, más que algo atemorizante, es el llamado a vivir una vida de responsabilidad. Responsabilidad para conmigo y también para con los demás. Si no somos responsables de nosotros ¿Cómo seremos responsables con los demás? La responsabilidad para con nosotros pasa por la responsabilidad con nuestra salud y con nuestra vida espiritual. Somos una unidad, aunque nuestra vida tenga diferentes dimensiones. Lo cierto es que tenemos que estar preparados para todo.

Oración: Dios amado, en este tiempo de Adviento me pregunto ¿qué debo mejorar para estar preparado? Hazme saber dónde están mis errores y fallas. Amén.
