GUIDED BY JESUS’
GOSPEL
RUTH 1:17
“Where you die I will
die, and there I will be buried.
May the Lord deal
with me, be it ever so severely
if anything but death
separates you and me.” (NIV)
Ruth 1:17
The story narrated in
the book of Ruth is very beautiful. Our minds are always refreshed by the
memory of these pages; there remains in us a sweet reflection inspired by the
filial love that united the destiny of those two women.
It’s undoubtedly a
beautiful experience when we know that someone loves us to the point of
becoming our supporter. Civilization has brought crisis to family relations
inside the home; perhaps it’s for lack of time, or perhaps because of the
tensions to which modern life submits us, but it’s certain that many times we
see ourselves submitted to conflicts, discussions, blunders and discrepancies
that usually
involve us in an atmosphere of rupture with the beings we love.
Could our faith
perhaps help us to confront situations of this type that provoke hours of
affliction? Did our Lord Jesus Christ leave us some rules to guide us in these
circumstances? Yes, brothers, our faith can help us. The gospel of Jesus can
teach us; and above all, the Holy Spirit can offer us the best assistance.
Don’t search out the
solution by pointing to the errors and faults of those around us. Let’s make an
analysis based on what we can contribute. Let’s be aware of the infallible
method that
the Lord bequeathed us by teaching us a new dimension of love. We shouldn’t worry so
much about being loved as loving. We cannot be so impatient waiting to be
served, but rather, serve passionately.
Prayer: May our service, Lord, be as you desire. Amen.

Es muy
bella la historia narrada en el libro de Rut. Siempre que refrescamos en
nuestra mente el recuerdo de estas páginas, queda en nosotros una dulce
reflexión inspirada en el amor filial que unió el destino de aquellas dos
mujeres. Indudablemente que es una experiencia hermosa la que vivimos cuando
sabemos que alguien nos ama hasta el punto de convertirse en nuestro apoyo. La
civilización ha traído crisis en las relaciones familiares dentro del hogar,
quizás por la falta de tiempo o tal vez por las tensiones a que nos somete la
vida moderna, pero es cierto que muchas veces nos vemos sometidos a conflictos,
discusiones, desatinos y discrepancias que suelen envolvernos en una atmósfera
de ruptura con los seres que amamos.
¿Puede
acaso nuestra fe ayudarnos a enfrentar situaciones de esta índole, que provocan
horas de aflicción? ¿Nuestro Señor Jesucristo dejó alguna norma para guiarnos
en estas circunstancias? Sí, hermanos, nuestra fe puede ayudarnos, el Evangelio
de Jesús puede enseñarnos; y sobre todo, el Espíritu Santo puede ofrecernos la
mejor ayuda. No busquemos la solución señalando los errores y las faltas de
aquellos que nos rodean. Hagamos un análisis sobre la base de lo que podemos
aportar nosotros. Tengamos conciencia del método infalible que nos legó el
Señor al enseñarnos una nueva dimensión del amor. No debe preocuparnos tanto el
ser amados, como el amar. No podemos impacientarnos tanto esperando el ser
servidos, sino mas bien, sirvamos apasionadamente.
Oración: Que nuestro
servicio, Señor, sea como tú lo deseas. Amén.
