GOD IS NOT FAR

ROMANS 1:16-17

God’s righteousness is being revealed in the gospel,

from faithfulness for faith,

as it is written, “The righteous person will live by faith.”

Romans 1:17 CEB

“If it were not for my faith in God who sustains me, I would have gone crazy.”  We can hear expressions like this almost every day out of the mouths of any person in our community. 

The injustices and the disorder caused by some human beings or peoples have been and will be cause for bewilderment for many.  Why?  We ourselves at times do not understand the loss of a loved one, the penalties for taking advantage of our best friend, etc.  However, God gives us the answer through his eternal message.

God shows us that at times the good suffer because it is not possible to make distinctions.  Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who defile you and persecute you; in this way you will be children of your Father who is in the heavens, who makes the sun come out on the bad ones and the good ones, and who makes it rain on both the just and the unjust. 

Conflicts abound in life.  Faith in God keeps us from succumbing to trials and troubles.  The God in whom we trust is a living God, a God who is born every day to reveal to us in a special way the mystery of the abundant life which overcomes the realities of death around us. 

Prayer:  Lord, in this Advent, help us to trust that only you are capable of imparting hope in discouragement and strength to confront the tests and conflicts.  Amen.

DIOS NO ES AJENO

ROMANOS 1:16-17

Porque en el evangelio se revela la justicia de Dios,

que de principio a fin es por medio de la fe,

tal como está escrito: “El justo por la fe vivirá”.

Romanos 1:17

“Si no fuese por mi fe en Dios, que me sostiene, hubiera llegado a la locura”. Expresiones como estas podemos oír casi todos los días en boca de cualquier persona en nuestra comunidad.

Las injusticias y el desorden provocados por algunos seres humanos o pueblos, han sido y serán motivos  de desconcierto para muchos. ¿Por qué? Nosotros mismos a veces no entendemos la pérdida de algún ser querido, las penalidades por las que pueda atravesar nuestro  mejor amigo, etc. Sin embargo, Dios nos da la respuesta a través de su eterno mensaje.

 Él nos manifiesta que a veces padecen los buenos, porque no es posible hacer distinciones. Amad a vuestros enemigos, bendecid a los que os maldicen, haced bien a los que os aborrecen, y orad por los que os ultrajan y os persiguen; para que seáis hijos de vuestro Padre que está en los cielos, que hace salir el sol sobre malos y buenos, y que hace llover entre justos e injustos.

En la vida abundan los conflictos. La fe en Dios evita que sucumbamos ante los contratiempos y las pruebas. El Dios en quien confiamos es un Dios vivo, es un Dios que nace cada día para revelarnos de manera especial el misterio de la vida abundante que vence sobre las realidades de muerte a nuestro alrededor.

Oración: Señor, en este Adviento ayúdanos a confiar en que sólo tú eres capaz de impartirnos esperanzas en el desaliento y fortaleza para enfrentar las pruebas y conflictos. Amén.
