DISCOVER THE TREASURES

PROVERBS 2:1-9

Because the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding

Proverbs 2:6 (NRSV)

            Fruitful study of the Bible involves more than opening to a chapter and reading what is there. Here are six guidelines to help you get the most out of studying the Bible:

1.         Set aside time regularly. If you don’t plan it, you will neglect it.

2.         Before you begin reading, ask God for help and understanding.

3.         Think carefully about What you read. The treasures of the Bible rarely appear as stones on the road.

4.         Before deciding what a passage means to you, try to understand what the author is saying to his readers.

5.         Write at least one truth or principle that you can put in practice.

6.         Don’t be discouraged. Some portions of the Bible are difficult, but there is much that you can understand. And if you apply what you have learned, it will revolutionize your life.

            Now reread today’s passage from Proverbs 2 with these principles in mind. Always use this method and start discovering the treasures of the Bible.

Prayer: God of life, let me find in your Word the guide for my life. Amen.

            El estudio provechoso de La Biblia implica algo más que abrirla en un capítulo y leer lo que hay allí. He aquíí seis directrices para ayudarte a sacar el mayor provecho del estudio de La Biblia:

1.         Aparta un tiempo regularmente. Si no lo planeas lo vas a descuidar.

2.         Antes de empezar a leer, pídele a Dios ayuda y entendimiento.

3.         Piensa detenidamente en lo que lees. Los tesoros de La Biblia raras veces aparecen como piedras en el camino.

3.         Antes de decidir lo que significa un pasaje para ti, trata de entender lo que el autor está diciendo a sus lectores.

5.         Escribe al menos una verdad o principio que puedas poner en práctica.

6.    No te desalientes. Algunas porciones de la Biblia son difíciles, pero hay mucho que sí puedes entender. Y si aplicas lo que has aprendido, revolucionará tu vida.

            Ahora lee otra vez el pasaje de hoy de Proverbios 2 teniendo en cuenta estos principios. Usa este método siempre y empieza a descubrir los tesoros de La Biblia.
