I WILL BE FAITHFUL

AND I WILL BE WITH YOU

GENESIS 28: 15-17

I am with you and Will watch over you wherever you go,

and I Will bring you back to this land. (NIV)

Genesis 28: 15a.

If we set about to evaluate Jacob’s behavior, we can’t overlook his discouraged and deceptive mindset. To obtain the blessing he tricked and bargained for the primogeniture of his brother and later deceived his father as well. His actions force him to flee to other lands where he goes through difficult and unexpected experiences.

Even when we recognize God’s perfect plan, which, in his grace transforms evil and thus, in this instance, Jacob obtains what he wants from this solitary and fearful man, it surprises him in dreams in the middle of the exhausting road, reminding him that he will be with him wherever he goes.

Even amidst sin and the errors we commit, God makes himself present, offering us his mercy and forgiveness. Because of his immense love he gives us the opportunity to vindicate ourselves just when we realize how little we’re worth and how undeserving. The daily re-encounter we have with God is the chance for a new life and a new commitment to his mission and with what he wants us to be and do.

God walked with Jacob and he walks with us; he was and will be present in each event of our lives if we permit him. “I am with you,” he says to us and we should be willing to respond to him according to the gift of his grace.

Prayer: May we hear the promise you make us, of being with us wherever we may go, and in consequence to respond obediently and lovingly to serve our neighbor. Amen.

SERÉ FIEL Y ESTARÉ CONTIGO

GÉNESIS 28: 15-17

He aquí, yo estoy contigo, y te guardaré por dondequiera que vayas,

y te haré volver a esta tierra.

Génesis 28: 15a.

            Si nos ponemos a evaluar la conducta de Jacob, no podemos ignorar su actitud desmoralizada y engañosa. Engañó y negoció la primogenitura de su hermano y más tarde engaña también a su padre para obtener la bendición. Sus acciones lo hacen huir hacia otras tierras, donde vive experiencias difíciles y no esperadas, aun cuando reconocemos del plan perfecto de Dios, que en su gracia  transforma lo malo y consigue así lo que quiere de este hombre temeroso y solo; le sorprende en sueños en medio de lo agotado del camino recordándole que estará con él dondequiera que fuere.

            Aun en medio del pecado y los errores que cometemos, Dios se hace presente ofreciéndonos su misericordia y perdón; por su inmenso amor nos da la oportunidad de reivindicarnos justo cuando nos damos cuenta de lo poco que valemos y merecemos. El reencuentro que tenemos con Dios cada día es la oportunidad de una nueva vida y un nuevo compromiso con su misión,  con lo que Él quiere que seamos y hagamos.

            Dios caminó con Jacob y camina con nosotros, estuvo y estará presente en cada evento de nuestras vidas si así lo permitimos. “Yo estoy contigo”, nos dice, y debemos estar dispuestos a responderle conforme al regalo de su gracia.

Oración: Padre permite que escuchemos la promesa que nos haces de estar con nosotros donde quiera que vayamos, y en consecuencia responder obedientes y amorosos para servir al prójimo. Amén.
