Beginning of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

DO WE FEEL LIKE ONE?

John17:11-21

that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us

John 17:21 (NRSV)

I have been attending the activities of the Week of Unity for Christians, which for years some churches have led. I play an active part in the International Ecumenical Christian Community. Many people of diverse faiths from multiple countries have passed through it, as its primary purpose was to provide a place of worship for foreign staff with temporary or permanent residence, or tourists, with an English language service. Lately, Cubans who want to practice their English have been joining. That has also helped in a concrete and vivid way to convince me of the benefit of this plurality in which Christ is the head.

I have enjoyed Psalm 133:1 (How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity!) because, aside from difficult times that are impossible to avoid, triumph has always been in that same feeling and harmony. Therefore, when we work in the Lord’s vineyard, with the premise that we are one and no one is more important than another, the delight in shared prayer and action becomes real and the doctrines that distance us from each other fade away.

Let’s pray the Lord’s Prayer together, filled with hope, faith, and above all, love which generates tolerance, reconciliation, and peace. When the time comes for us to meet the Savior, we will not be asked for a membership card for any denomination, but to have fulfilled what is taught in Matthew 25.

Prayer: Our Father in heaven, may your name be hallowed through our commitment to unity. Amen.

Inicio Octavario Oración por la Unidad de los Cristianos

¿NOS SENTIMOS COMO UNO?

Juan17:11-21
