WITHOUT SELFISH INTERESTS

Philippians 2:1-4

Not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others. (NIV)

Philippians 2:4

The life of humans in society is a life of relations. One cannot live in complete isolation. We need each other. However, we can do this for diverse reasons. We are rational creatures, and it’s always convenient to think about what we do.

It’s also certain that everyone, perhaps without realizing it, lives and relates from either an egotistic or altruistic perspective. Egotism is when we think only of ourselves; my own usefulness and profit are the motive for my actions. Altruism is when we think about others as well. For our life as community the Bible teaching is that we look not only to ourselves, but we also think of others.

Christianity produces in us the most beautiful and noble feelings. And as disciples of Jesus Christ we have his stimulating example. Christ gave himself over entirely to do the will of his Father and for the love of us. If we think about others it will benefit us.

Prayer: Celestial Father, I ask you that the love that has been showered upon us by your Holy Spirit moves us to love others. Amen.

SIN INTERES EGOISTA

FILIPENSES 2:1-4
