THE COST OF LIFE

Colossians 3:1-4

Think about the things above and not things on earth.

Colossians 3: 2 (CEB) 

            One of the rawest realities that we have lived through during these times is the higher cost of all goods.  The prices are high for anything that one can buy.  What is happening?  Could it be that life has become more expensive?

            All of these questions assault our minds. And all this happens because our world has materialized in such a way that it has given too much importance to earthly goods.

            Those who believe in Christ have to think and live differently; he or she has to first give a high value to him or herself because Christ paid a high price for our salvation.  For this reason, our gaze should not be fixed on the immediate, but must be lifted upwards toward the infinite, toward the goal of reaching an abundant and full life through the spiritual gifts that come from God. 

            These are the resources for which we must truly struggle, these are the ones that will last.  These resources serve us to make it through the immediate tests that try to overcome our purity and patience in the middle of the race that we have undertaken through this life that our Father has designed for each one and that God has given us with such love.

 

Prayer: Beloved Father, help us to discern which are our priorities in life and to never separate our feelings from your divine guidance.  Amen.

EL COSTO DE LA VIDA

Colosenses 3:1-4

Poned la mira en las cosas de arriba, no en las de la tierra.

Colosenses 3: 2 

            Una de las realidades más crudas que hemos de soportar durante estos  tiempos es el elevado costo de todo lo que se vende. Son altos los precios de todo aquello que se comercializa. ¿Qué está sucediendo? ¿Será que la vida se ha tornado más cara?

            Todas estas preguntas asaltan nuestra mente. Y todo esto sucede porque nuestro mundo se ha materializado de tal forma, que se le ha dado demasiada importancia a los bienes terrenales.

            Quien ha creído en Cristo ha de pensar y  vivir diferente; ha de darse primeramente un alto valor a sí mismo porque Él pagó un alto precio por nuestra salvación. Por esta razón, nuestra mirada no ha de fijarse en lo inmediato, ha de elevarse hacia arriba, hacia lo infinito, hacia la meta de alcanzar vida abundante y plena por los dones espirituales que vienen de Dios.

            Esos son los recursos por los que verdaderamente hemos de luchar, son esos los que perduran y los que nos sirven para poder soportar las pruebas inmediatas que intentan sucumbir nuestra pureza y paciencia en medio de la carrera que hemos emprendido dentro de esta vida que nuestro Padre ha diseñado para cada uno y que nos ha regalado con tanto amor.

 

Oración: Padre amado, ayúdanos a distinguir cuáles son nuestras prioridades en la vida y a nunca apartar nuestros sentidos de tu dirección divina. Amén.
