THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN HAS COME NEAR

Matthew 3:1-4

Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.

Matthew 3:2 (NRSV)

            On the back of my car, I carry an attractive sign that says, “To go to heaven, turn right and go straight,” with an arrow pointing in that direction. I chose precisely that sign as a means of preaching.

            This is God’s call to every person: Repent. Turn your life toward God and walk in his righteous ways. That was the heart of John the Baptist’s message in the wilderness. That was the message of the Old Testament prophets. Jesus himself, during his ministry, preached repentance and then commanded that repentance be preached to all nations. And that is the message we must still proclaim to our neighbors.

            To receive the temporal and eternal blessings of the Kingdom of Heaven that Jesus came to bring us, we must allow the Holy Spirit to prepare our hearts, recognizing ourselves as sinners, confessing our sins to God, abandoning them for His power, changing our way of living.

 

Prayer: Thank you Lord. that  I am always in time to take the course that will lead me to you. I  know that you are waiting for me with outstretched arms. Amen

EL REINO DE LOS CIELOS SE HA ACERCADO

Mateo 3:1-4

Arrepentíos, porque el reino de los cielos se ha acercado

Mateo 3:2

            En la parte de atrás de mi automóvil, llevo un atractivo letrero que dice: “Para ir  al cielo, vire a la derecha y siga recto”, con una flecha que indica esa dirección. Escogí ese letrero precisamente como medio de predicar.

            Este es el llamamiento de Dios a toda persona: Arrepentíos. Virar la vida  hacia Dios y andar en sus rectos caminos. Ese fue el corazón del mensaje de Juan  el Bautista en el desierto. Ese mismo era el mensaje de los profetas del Antiguo Testamento. Jesús mismo, durante su ministerio, predicó el arrepentimiento y luego ordenó que se predicase a todas las naciones el arrepentimiento. Y ese es el mensaje que aun debemos proclamar al prójimo.

            Para recibir las bendiciones temporales y eternas del Reino de los Cielos que Jesús vino a traernos, hemos de permitir que el Espíritu Santo prepare nuestros corazones, reconociéndonos pecadores, confesando a Dios nuestros pecados, abandonándolos por su poder, cambiando nuestra manera de vivir.

 

Oración: Gracias Señor, porque siempre estoy a tiempo de tomar el rumbo que me lleve hacia ti, y sé que me esperas con los brazos extendidos. Amén.
