THE NATIONS BEFORE GOD

Matthew  25: 31-46

And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.’

            The last wish of Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite, was to grant each year a prize to people whose investigations or discoveries created a major benefit for humanity. He felt guilty for his responsibility as a businessman enriched by an industry whose principal market was not only mining but also war. We know that war is not necessary for a great death toll; at times a pandemic like the one we have been living through, is more dangerous because it doesn’t respect social status, gender, age, race, or creed.

            The experience of living through the year 2020 has been hard in all countries. Where contempt, carelessness and money prevailed, the victims were numerous. Wherever the first thought was to save human lives, to care unhesitatingly for their basic needs, fewer people were contagious.  Many decided to help regardless of differences; others did not.

            Human beings have not yet understood that only by helping everyone, protecting everyone, will humanity be saved. For the greatest prize is not the Nobel, but being at God’s right hand and receiving the reign prepared for the just since the creation of the world.

 

Prayer: Beloved God, forgive misunderstandings and allow compassion for the benefit of all to abound. Amen.

LAS NACIONES FRENTE A DIOS

Mateo  25: 31-46

El Rey les responderá: Les aseguro que todo lo que hicieron por uno de mis hermanos, aún por el más pequeño, lo hicieron por mí.

            La última voluntad de Alfred Nobel, inventor de la dinamita, fue otorgar cada año un premio a personas cuyas investigaciones o descubrimientos llevaran mayor beneficio a la humanidad. Se sentía culpable por su responsabilidad como empresario enriquecido a través de una industria cuyo principal mercado era la minería, pero también la guerra. Sabemos que no tiene que ser una guerra, a veces es más peligrosa una pandemia como la que hemos estado viviendo, que no mira status social, ni sexo, ni edad, ni raza, ni credo. 

            La experiencia de vivir desde el año 2020,  ha sido duro para todos los países.  Allí donde el menosprecio, la desidia y el dinero prevalecieron, las víctimas fueron numerosas. Allí donde se puso en primer lugar salvar al ser humano, atender a sus necesidades básicas sin reparo alguno, menos personas se contagiaron. Muchos decidieron ayudar, sin  importar diferencias; otros no.

            Los seres humanos no hemos comprendido aún que sólo ayudando a todos, protegiendo a todos, será salvada la humanidad. Por eso el premio mayor no será el Nobel, sino el estar a la derecha de Dios y recibir el reino preparado para los justos desde la creación del mundo.

 

Oración: ¡Dios amado! Perdona las incomprensiones y permite que abunde la compasión para beneficio de los demás. Amén.
