THE PEACE OF GOD AMONG US

Philippians 4: 1-9

Therefore, my brothers, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, that is how you should stand firm in the Lord, dear friends!

Philippians 4:1 NIV

            At times we see workplaces that seem like a family due to the relationships that they maintain. I don’t describe a place with no problems at all; on the contrary, I speak of places where differences are resolved from the perspective of the common good.

            Paul wrote to the Philippians, a community that he dearly loved, and as such he tells them without hesitation, dear ones whom he misses, that are his happiness and recompense, and he recommends that they make an agreement “as is fitting for believers”.

            When we face differences between brothers and sisters, at times we get away from the model Paul taught us which is very clearly described in this passage. It is then when the church stops seeing itself as a family.

            We always should present our wishes to God praying, and so peace will dwell among us and we will be capable of making an agreement while respecting our differences.

 

Prayer: Good God, allow us to always take into account all that is true, pure, kind, just and virtuous, so that the God of peace lives among us. Amen.

LA PAZ DE DIOS ENTRE NOSOTROS

Filipenses 4: 1-9

…a quienes tanto extraño, ustedes son mi alegría y mi recompensa, manténganse firmes en el Señor.

            A veces vemos centros de trabajo donde parece una familia por las relaciones que mantienen, y para nada describo un lugar exento de problemas; al contrario hablo de sitios donde se resuelven las diferencias desde la perspectiva del bien común.

            Pablo le escribe a los filipenses, comunidad que le despertaba los afectos, y como tal les dice, sin reparos, queridos a quienes extraña, que son su alegría y recompensa, y les recomienda que se pongan de acuerdo “como corresponde a un creyente”.

            A veces ante las diferencias entre hermanos nos alejamos del modelo que Pablo nos enseñó y que está tan claramente descrito en este pasaje, y es entonces cuando la iglesia deja de verse como una familia.

            Siempre debemos presentar nuestros deseos a Dios orando, y así la paz habitará entre nosotros y seremos capaces de ponernos de acuerdo, respetando nuestras diferencias.

 

Oración: Dios bueno, permite que siempre tengamos en cuenta todo lo verdadero, lo limpio, lo amable, lo justo y lo virtuoso, para que el Dios de la paz habite entre nosotros. Amén.
