WITH GRATITUDE

Joshua 22:1-6

So Joshua blessed them and sent them away, and they went to their tents.

Joshua 22:6  (NRSV)

This text tells us that before Joshua dismissed the tribes, he gathered them together, praised them, blessed them, and thanked them. Instead of simply dismissing them, he reflected with gratitude on their good works. How important that we do the same: seeing and appreciating the people around us and verbalizing our gratitude instead of ignoring or underestimating them!

When is the last time you thanked God for the people He has brought into your life? Try for a moment. You will be surprised at the number of people for whom you should give thanks.

Begin with your close family and continue with more distant relatives. Then, having given thanks for them, think of the people who have most influenced your life: teachers, pastors, kindly people in your neighborhood, fellow students, workers and couples. When, like Joshua, we pause to give thanks for the people who enrich our lives, we affirm the value of each of them and bless God as well as their lives.

 

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the people who surround me. Help me to appreciate how much each of them means in my life. Give me the sensitivity needed to be a grateful person all of the time. Amen.

CON GRATITUD

Josúe 22:1-6

Y bendiciéndolos, Josué los despidió, y se fueron a sus tiendas

Josué 22:6

Este texto nos narra que antes que Josué despidiera a las tribus las convocó, las alabó, las bendijo y les dio las gracias. En vez de limitarse a despedirlas, reflexionó en sus buenas acciones con gratitud. ¡Cuán importante es que hagamos lo mismo: ver y valorar a las personas que nos rodean y verbalizar nuestra gratitud en vez de ignorarlas o subestimarlas!

¿Cuándo fue la última vez que agradeciste a Dios por las personas que ha traído a tu vida? Inténtalo en algún momento. Te sorprenderás de la cantidad de  personas por las que puedes dar las gracias.

Comienza con tu familia  cercana y sigue con parientes más lejanos. Después de haber dado gracias por ellos, piensa en las personas que más han influido en tu vida: maestros, pastores, pastoras, en las personas del barrio que son amables, en compañeros de estudios y trabajo, en parejas. Cuando, al igual que Josué, nos detenemos a dar gracias por las personas que enriquecen nuestra vida, afirmamos el valor de cada una de ellas y bendecimos a Dios, así como sus vidas.

Oración: Gracias Señor, por las personas que me rodean. Ayúdame a valorar cuánto significan cada una de ellas en mi vida. Dame la sensibilidad necesaria para ser una persona agradecida en todo momento. Amén.
