WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 4

FOLLOWING JESUS

Luke 9: 57-62

Jesus said to him, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Luke 9: 62(NRSV)

With this passage the evangelist Luke makes us think that God’s call is for everyone, even when the Lord knows the answer beforehand. The first ones Jesus called, among the twelve, immediately said yes, abandoning everything to follow Jesus: the fishers their nets, the publicans their easy money. All with their problems and mistakes held one thing very clear: their journey and life was with the Master.

Now Jesus wants them to understand that their way is difficult, narrow and that doubts have no place in Christians. God has promised us help and strength, has told us that we will not be alone.

Each and every one must strive to fulfill what was promised when called: preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and serving the people. God always blesses us.

 

Prayer: God of the prophets who were called and responded, be with your people and strengthen our faith.

SIGUIENDO A JESÚS.

Lucas 9: 57-62

Y Jesús dijo: ninguno que, poniendo su mano en el arado mira hacia atrás, es apto para el Reino de Dios.

Con este pasaje Lucas el evangelista nos hace pensar que el llamado de Dios es para todos, aún cuando de antemano el Señor sepa la respuesta. Los primeros llamados por Jesús, entre ellos los doce, inmediatamente dijeron que sí, dejaron todo para seguir a Jesús; los pescadores sus redes; los publicanos su dinero fácil. Todos con sus dificultades y errores tenían algo bien claro: su camino y vida era con el Maestro.

Ahora Jesús quiere que entiendan que su camino es difícil, estrecho y que las dudas no caben en los cristianos. Dios nos ha prometido ayuda y fortaleza, nos ha dicho que no estaríamos solos.

Cada uno y cada una se debe esforzar para cumplir con lo que prometió cuando fue llamado. Predicar el Evangelio de Jesucristo y servir al pueblo. Dios nos bendiga siempre.

 

Oración:Dios de los profetas que fueron llamados y respondieron, sé con tu pueblo y aumenta nuestra fe. Amén.
