MERCIFUL JESUS

Matthew 9: 1-8

“Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.”

Matthew 9:2b (NRSV)

The synoptic Gospels tell us almost nothing about the paralytic, not even his age or social status. What we know is that some friends carried him to the Lord. Contrary to what those around Jesus, the scribes and other people, might have thought, he calls him “son.” With that one word, Jesus returned him to the human condition. No longer was he the marginalized and excluded “paralytic.”  Jesus made him “Son,” forgave his sins, and healed him.

To this day, he has that infinite power and has made us his children, has pardoned and healed us, has made us siblings and has shown us mercy.

His love makes us part of his Reign here and now.

Prayer: Our God, thank you for loving and caring for us with your great mercy. We trust you always. Amen.

JESÚS MISERICORDIOSO

Mateo 9: 1-8

«Hijo, tus pecados te son perdonados.»

Mateo 9:2
