WE PRAISE YOU!

Matthew 11: 25-27

At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because  you have hidden these things from the wise and learned and revealed them to little children

Why would Jesus  have used  this phrase in praise to the Father?

We do not know for sure; but behind Jesus’ words we can suspect his rejection of pride, vanity and the foolishness of feeling superior; at the same time we discover how much he values simplicity, humility and small gestures. So much so that he has an expression of praise in which for the only time in this Gospel Jesus calls the Father “Lord of heaven and earth”.

What are our motives for praising the Lord today? Are they born of the great successes we achieve in our lives, or do they spring from deep gratitude for discovering in our daily lives, through the simple and small gestures that often save lives, our most genuine reasons for praise?

 

Prayer: Allow us, Jesus, to adore you with our eyes and hearts where you have placed yours to praise the Father. Amen.

¡Te alabamos!

Mateo 11: 25-27

En aquel tiempo, respondiendo Jesús, dijo: «Te alabo, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, porque escondiste estas cosas de los sabios y de los entendidos, y las revelaste a los niños».

¿Cuál sería el motivo por el cual Jesús expresó esta frase de alabanza al Padre?

Con certeza no lo sabemos; mas detrás de las palabras de Jesús podemos sospechar de su rechazo al orgullo, la vanidad y la necedad de sentirse superior; al mismo tiempo descubrimos cuánto valora la sencillez, la humildad, los pequeños gestos. Tanto así que tiene una expresión de alabanza en la que por única vez en este evangelio Jesús llama al Padre “Señor del cielo y de la tierra”.

¿Cuáles son en este día nuestros motivos para alabar al Señor? ¿Nacen de los grandes éxitos que alcanzamos en nuestras vidas, o brotan de la gratitud profunda por el descubrir en nuestro diario vivir, a través de lo simple y en los pequeños gestos que suelen salvar la vida, nuestras razones más genuinas para la alabanza?

 

Oración: Permite, Jesús, que podamos adorarte con nuestros ojos y corazones puestos, allí donde colocaste los tuyos parar alabar al Padre. Amén.
