PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

Philippians 4:6-8

Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with thanksgiving.

Colossians 4:2 (NRSV)

Today I invite you to thank God for all the blessings that we daily receive from Him.

“We thank you, Lord, for life for each member of our family, and for those who are not here today.

“Thank you that we can recognize how much we love each other, daily showing our appreciation through the attention and respect we have for each other.

“Thank you for your forgiveness which you pour out on us as we strive to keep an attitude of understanding and patience in our home and toward those people who are around us.

“Thank Christ for the lives and fortitude of those who went before us and who struggled so that today we might life in freedom.

“Thanks for the opportunities which you have provided for loving, serving, helping, for working and prospering in this place where we live, where you have brought us, not to turn back but to receive the blessings you have already prepared for us by your holy will.”

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for blessing us in your infinite goodness and mercy every day with that which we don’t deserve. Amen.

ORACIÓN DE ACCIÓN DE GRACIAS

Filipenses 4:6-8

WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT?

John 9: 1-17

He answered, “I do not know whether he is a sinner. One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.”

John 9:25 (NRSV)

Some time ago I read about two friends who had not seen each other for a long time. In meeting one of them noticed the change that had occured in the other’s life, and he asked to what was that change owed. The other replied, “I came to know Jesus. Now I am a new man.” The other friend said to him, “Since you have come to know Jesus. You can tell me a lot about him; for example, where he was born, where he lived, how old he was when he died, and various other things.”

The other friend told him, “Unfortunately I cannot answer those questions. I don’t know the answers.”

“Then you don’t know anything about Jesus,” said the first friend.

The other replied, “You are wrong. I was an alcoholic. My life was a disaster. My family was afraid of me. Today I am different. Jesus changed me. I don’t drink any more. I’m happy with my loved ones. I work honorably. All that is thanks to Christ, and that is what I know. I know that he can transform a life. That’s what is really important.”

How true! Truth? What is more important, knowing the Bible by memory, knowing many of the things about Jesus’ public life (which is not a bad thing to know), or feeling that he transforms lives and putting into practice what He asks us to do for those around us.?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for the miracle that you have worked in my life. Help me to understand what is the most important for our faith and to share it. Amen.

¿QUE ES LO MAS IMPORTANTE?

Juan 9: 1-17

Mi familia me tenía miedo. Hoy todo es distinto. Jesús me cambió. Ya no bebo. Disfruto junto a mis seres queridos. Trabajo honradamente.

FOLLOWING THE INDICATED PATH

John 17:18-26

I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word

John 17: 20 (NRSV)

Several years ago I assisted at the funeral service of a great friend of mine. He was over 90 years old, born and raised in a Christian home. He was an example of faith, loyalty, and service, both in the church as well as in the village where he lived. Such people are always thought of as examples of faithfulness.

Jesus prayed for his disciples, but also for those who would follow his teachings and would be models to follow. His life and witness contributed to the extension of the Reign of God in his time.

If we think about our lives, can we say that we are following the path that Jesus showed us? Are we models of Chirstian conduct, the mirror in which others would see themselves?

Let’s look within ourselves and, above all, seek God’s help to comply with his will.

Prayer: Lord, grant that our actions and thoughts might be an example of faith, loyalty, and service to you. May those around us see you in us. Amen.

SIGUIENDO EL CAMINO QUE INDICÓ

Juan 17:18-26
