PEACE

ISAIAH 52:7

You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ

We are probably not all among those who most suffer on the face of the earth. We need to acknowledge that there are terrible crises around us that affect human beings. But perhaps many of us are carrying a heavy load that we are not convinced we can share with someone. And so, we live with it and try to hide our pain.  And yet, it pursues us constantly, tormenting us and at times drowning us in deep sorrow. We try to forget about it, but are unable. We also avoid hours of solitude during which we find ourselves inevitably alone. 

Who will free us from those thoughts that slowly consume us?  If one day and for a few minutes we could open our hearts and confide our problems to a friend, we would sincerely appreciate their understanding and affection.  But unfortunately, even then we would not receive the peace for which our souls yearn. We all yearn for peace.  Who will give us that true inner peace?  Only Jesus can give it to us.

Prayer: Today we ask you to inundate the entire earth with your holy peace, blessed Lord. Amen.

Probablemente no todos formamos parte de los que más sufren en la tierra. Debemos reconocer que a nuestro alrededor hay terribles crisis que afectan a los seres humanos. Pero, tal vez muchos de nosotros sobrellevemos una pesada carga, que no nos sentimos convencidos de poder compartir con alguien. Y así convivimos con ella tratando de ocultar nuestra pena. Sin embrago, nos persigue constantemente, nos atormenta y a veces nos hunde en una profunda tristeza. Procuramos olvidarla, pero no lo conseguimos. También evitamos las horas de soledad durante las cuales, nos encontramos inexorablemente frente a frente con nosotros mismos.

¿Quién nos librará de los pensamientos que nos consumen lentamente? Si algún día y durante algunos minutos pudimos abrir nuestro corazón y confiarnos nuestros problemas a una persona amiga, con toda seguridad apreciamos su comprensión y afecto. Pero desdichadamente, con ello no conseguimos la paz que nuestra alma buscaba. Todos ansiamos la paz. ¿Quién nos dará esa verdadera paz interior?  Solo Jesús puede dárnosla.

Oración: Te pedimos hoy que inundes toda la tierra, con tu santa paz, bendito Señor. Amén.
