EVERYONE NEEDS FAITH

HEBREWS 11

And without faith it is impossible to please God,

because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists

and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Hebrews 11: 6

Faith is the essence and the gift of God. To have faith is to trust, hope, obey, believe, and have security in God. Faith expresses the human response to God that is revealed with his love, wisdom, and power. Faith includes our acceptance, trust, and obedience. Faith vitalizes, saves, and draws us to the Kingdom, because where there is faith there is love, joy, and forgiveness.

Everyone needs faith. José Martí asked himself, “Where will the men go who have lost the habit of faith?” Through faith Luther could battle against a world of injustice, selfishness, corruption, lies and abuse of power so that human beings could know God.

Across its history our Cuban people have demonstrated themselves as a flock with faith. The crises have been extensive, but God has fortified us in such a way that creativity, solidarity, and unity have made it possible to continue forward. Faith isn’t an abstract concept. Faith is rising every morning with trust placed in God; it’s also reaching with our hands and with our hearts amidst scarcity with the certainty that God’s abundance of love will always reach us.

Prayer:  Merciful God, today, like the disciples, we ask, “increase our faith.” Amen.

TODOS NECESITAN LA FE

HEBREOS 11

Pero sin fe es imposible agradar a Dios; porque es necesario que el que se acerque a Dios, crea que le hay,

y que es galardonador de los que le buscan

Hebreos 11: 6

La fe es esencia y dádiva de Dios. Tener fe es confiar, esperar, obedecer, creer y tener seguridad en Dios. La fe expresa la respuesta humana al Dios que se revela con su amor, su sabiduría, su poder. La fe incluye nuestra aceptación, confianza y obediencia.  La fe vivifica, la fe salva, la fe nos lleva a alcanzar el Reino; porque donde hay fe  hay amor, alegría y perdón.

Todos necesitamos de fe. José Martí se preguntó: “¿A dónde irán los hombres que hayan perdido el hábito de la fe?”  Lutero, por fe, fue capaz de luchar contra un mundo de injusticia, egoísmo, corrupción, mentiras y abuso de poder, para que los seres humanos pudieran conocer a Dios.

Nuestro pueblo cubano a través de su historia, ha demostrado ser un rebaño de fe. Muchas han sido las crisis, pero Dios nos ha fortalecido de tal manera que la creatividad, la solidaridad y la unidad han hecho posible que continuemos adelante. La fe no se vive en abstracto. Fe es levantarse cada día con la confianza puesta en Dios, es también extender nuestras manos y nuestro corazón en medio de las carencias, con la seguridad de que Dios siempre nos alcanzará con su abundancia de amor.

Oración: Dios misericordioso, hoy te pedimos lo mismo que los discípulos: “aumenta nuestra fe”. Amén.
