ONLY SEEDS

PSALM 126:1-6

He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him.

Psalm 126:6

I wish to share the following illustration with you, that I once read and that showed me the great responsibility to which God calls us:

A story is told that a person dreamt that he was in a recently opened store and, to his surprise, he found that God was behind the counter. 

“What are you selling here?” he asked.

“All that your heart desires,” responded God.

“I wish for peace, love, happiness, wisdom...”

After a moment of hesitation, he added:

“Not just for myself, but for the entire world…”

God smiled at him and said:

“I think you may have misunderstood me.  We don’t sell fruit here; we only sell the seeds.”

Brothers and sisters, God calls us to be responsible and careful with our testimony.  He is the great sower, but he counts on us for the harvest.  Let us stop praying for a list of selfish requests for a happy life. Let us participate in that great harvest of the kingdom, sown for the spirit. Let us plant the seeds that God offers us and we will reap for his glory and honor.

Prayer: Help us, God of the harvest, to scatter your seeds and to care for the sowing with courage.  Through Jesus we beseech you. Amen.

ÚNICAMENTE SEMILLAS

SALMO 126:1-6

Irá andando y llorando el que lleva la preciosa semilla;

mas volverá a venir con regocijo, trayendo sus gavillas

Salmo 126:6

Quiero compartir la siguiente ilustración que leí en una ocasión y me puso frente a la gran responsabilidad a la que Dios nos llama:

Se cuenta que una persona soñó que estaba en una tienda recién inaugurada y para su sorpresa, descubrió que Dios se encontraba tras el mostrador.

- ¿Qué vendes aquí?, le preguntó.

-Todo lo que tu corazón desee, respondió Dios.

Sin atreverse a creer lo que estaba oyendo, se decidió a pedir lo mejor que un ser humano podría desear.

-Deseo paz, amor, felicidad, sabiduría...

Tras un instante de vacilación, añadió:

-No sólo para mí, sino para todo el mundo...

Dios se sonrió y le dijo:

-Creo que no me has comprendido. Aquí no vendemos frutos, únicamente vendemos semillas.

Hermanas y hermanos, Dios nos llama a ser responsables y cuidadosos con nuestro testimonio. Él es el gran sembrador, pero cuenta con nosotros para la cosecha. Dejemos de hacer nuestras oraciones como una lista de pedidos egoístas para una vida feliz. Participemos en esa gran cosecha del reino, sembrando para el espíritu. Sembremos las semillas que Dios nos ofrece y segaremos para su gloria y honra.

Oración: Ayúdanos Dios de la cosecha, a esparcir tus semillas y cuidar la siembra con denuedo. Por Cristo Jesús te lo imploramos. Amén.
