LET’S SHARPEN THE AX…EVERY DAY.

PSALM 127:1-2

Unless the Lord builds the house,

the builders labor in vain.

                    Psalm 127:1 (NIV)

Once upon a time a man arrived at a woodcutters’ camp in the mountains looking for work. On his first day he worked very hard, and felled many trees. On the second day, he worked as hard as on the first day, but cut barely half as many trees. On the third day, he proposed to increase his output. He furiously struck the ax against the trees, but with no results. When the foreman saw the young man he asked him: Have you sharpened your ax? The young man replied: “I really haven’t had time to because I’ve been too busy cutting trees.”

This happens often to many of us. We have to give ourselves time to discover our abilities and skills, keeping them up to date and preparing ourselves properly before we begin some task. How often have we started something without even praying? How often have we trusted in our own abilities without putting them in the hands of the One who gave them to us?

We must remember that we may have many abilities and skills, but if we don’t put them in the Lord’s hands we will not have the success we seek.

Prayer: Thank you, O God of life, for the abilities and gifts you have given us. Teach us to put them in your hands as we face life. Amen.

AFILEMOS EL HACHA…TODOS LOS DÍAS.

SALMO 127:1-2

         Si el Señor no edifica la casa, de nada sirve

que los edificadores se esfuercen

                    Salmo 127:1

En cierta ocasión, un hombre llegó a un campo de leñadores ubicado en la montaña con el objetivo de obtener trabajo. Durante su primer día de labores trabajó arduamente y como resultado taló muchos árboles. El segundo día, trabajó como el primero, pero su producción, fue escasamente la mitad del primer día. Durante el tercer día, se propuso mejorar su producción. Golpeó con furia el hacha contra los árboles, pero sus resultados fueron nulos. El capataz al ver al joven le preguntó: ¿Le has dado filo a tu hacha? A lo que el joven respondió: realmente no he tenido tiempo de hacerlo he estado demasiado ocupado cortando árboles.

A muchos nos sucede lo mismo día a día. Es conveniente darnos tiempo para hallar nuestras habilidades y destrezas, manteniéndolas al día y antes de comenzar alguna tarea prepararnos adecuadamente. ¿Cuántas veces hemos comenzado algo sin ni tan siquiera orar? ¿Cuántas veces has confiado en tus habilidades sin ponerlas en las manos de Aquel que te las regaló?

Recordemos que podemos tener muchas destrezas y habilidades, pero si no las ponemos en las manos del Señor no tendremos todo el éxito que deseamos. 

Oración: Gracias oh Dios de la vida, por las habilidades y los dones que nos has regalado. Enséñanos a ponerlas en tus manos al enfrentar la vida. Amén.
