WHAT YOU HAVE TO GIVE HIM

Matthew 26: 6-13

Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her. (NIV)

Matthew 26: 13

            As for me, I like perfumes, as do many others. And if some Sunday I have something of a cheap cologne left I use it. Here the text talks about an imported perfume that costs an “arm and a leg.” Without going into details, when that woman completely poured it out upon Jesus she was practically giving her life.  

            On proclaiming it, the gospel that’s going to be remembered will be that of total surrender. We’re heirs of many who’ve given all, including their lives, so that today we can enter a church quietly, worship God and hear his word. I remember a hymn of Rafael Cepeda that says: “Oh God, inspire in me the surrender of my being, my time, gifts, property, surrendered at your feet.”

            The goal is reached without expecting anything in return, except the approving smile from the Triune God to this proclamation of good news of love, faith and hope toward others. This is always a testimonial reality in those who have applied this prescription of behavior. The call is “Give of your best to the Master,” as another hymn says, for he will give us the sublime grace of his love.

 

Prayer: Our Father, as members of the church, put in our mission the sense of unconditional surrender to you, giver of life and all good. By your Son. Amen.

QUE TIENES PARA DARLE

Mateo 26: 6-13

En cualquier lugar del mundo donde se anuncie esta Buena Noticia, se hablará también de loque hizo esta mujer

Mateo 26: 13

            A mí me gustan los perfumes, igual que a muchos. Y si algún domingo me queda algo de una colonia barata, la uso. Aquí el texto habla de un perfume importado, que costaba “un ojo de la cara” para obtenerlo. Sin entrar en detalles, cuando esa mujer lo derramóó por completo sobre Jesús, estaba entregando prácticamente su vida.

            El evangelio que va a ser recordado al proclamarlo, sería el de la entrega total. Somos herederos de muchos que lo dieron todo, incluso sus vidas, para que hoy tranquilamente entremos a una iglesia para adorar a Dios y oír Su Palabra. Recuerdo un himno de Rafael Cepeda que dice: “Oh Dios, inspira en mí la entrega de mi ser: mi tiempo, dones, propiedad, rendidos a tus pies”.  

            Sin esperar nada a cambio, excepto la sonrisa del Dios Trino de aprobación a la proclamación de esta Buena Noticia de Amor, Fe y Esperanza hacia los demás es que se alcanza la meta; siempre esto es una realidad testimonial en los que han aplicado esta receta de comportamiento. El llamado es: Da lo mejor al Maestro, como dice otro himno, pues Él nos dará la sublime gracia de Su Amor.

 

Oración: Padre Nuestro, pon en nuestra misión como miembros de la iglesia el sentido de entrega incondicional a Ti, Dador de la Vida y del Bien. Por Tu Hijo. Amén.
