GOD DWELLS IN OUR HEARTS 

2 Samuel 7: 1-11:16

I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt. I have been moving from place to place with a tent as my dwelling.

2 Samuel 7:6(NRSV)

            It is customary to place our God in the physical space of our churches. In this text the humility that characterizes the God of Israel and who dwells in our hearts shines. The majesty of being the church does not consist in the number of its members or the architecture of its buildings, but in the quality of each believer. It is also common to recognize that the Holy Spirit inhabits and over-inhabits every human existence. One of the fundamental values is to be humble of heart.

            What does it mean for God to dwell in our hearts? It is the full certainty that we do not see it but feel it, we live it, we listen to what it tells us through His word and our realities. It is to love Him unconditionally. It is to give ourselves with gratitude. It is to participate in the building of justice and peace. It is to live consistently with what we think and say acting as God expects and desires of us.

 

Prayer: Good God, give us a heart in order to love well and strong in order to struggle. Give us your protection and fill us with the humility of Jesus.  Let us see you and listen to you in the vastness of everything we feel and do.  Accompany our day with your great blessing. Amen

DIOS HABITA EN NUESTROS CORAZONES

2 Samuel 7: 1-11:16

 ...hasta el presente nunca he habitado en templos, sino que he andado en simples tiendas de campaña.

2 Samuel 7:6

            Es costumbre ubicar a nuestro Dios en el espacio físico que ocupa nuestros templos. Y es habitual también reconocer que el Espíritu Santo habita y sobre-habita a toda existencia humana. Se reluce en este texto la humildad que caracteriza el Dios de Israel, el Dios que habita en nuestros corazones. La majestuosidad de ser iglesia no consiste en el número de sus membrecías, o en la arquitectura de sus templos, sino en la calidad de cada creyente. Uno de los valores fundamentales consiste en ser humildes de corazón.

            ¿Qué significa que Dios habite en nuestros corazones? Es la plena certeza de que no lo vemos, pero lo sentimos, lo vivimos, escuchamos lo que tiene que decirnos a través de su palabra y a través de nuestras realidades. Es amarle sin condiciones, es entregarnos con gratitud a participar de la construcción de su reino de justicia y paz, es vivir en coherencia con lo que pensamos y decimos, actuando tal y como Dios espera y desea de nosotros. 

 

Oración: Dios bueno, danos un corazón grande para amar y fuerte para luchar. Danos tu protección y llénanos de la humildad de Jesús. Permite que podamos verte y escucharte en la inmensidad de todo lo que sentimos y hacemos. Acompaña nuestro día con tu gran bendición. Amén.
