Glorify consistently

Romans 16:25-27

To the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen. (NIV)

Romans 16:27

            This text, written by the apostle as a farewell in the Letter to the Romans, serves as inspiration to compose a  hymn as  a doxology, because doxologies are prayers through which we glorify our God and communally celebrate our Lord, Jesus Christ. They’re acclammations of praise used at different times during service.    

            On occasion, however, we forget that these prayers of glorification to God should have consequences that exceed the scope of Sunday, when we meet to celebrate the liturgy. Our life forms part of this liturgy of the glorification of our Father and, from this sense we should act consequently. Of what use is it to attend the cultural and liturgical celebrations of our church if that doesn’t transform our lives, if we’re not disposed to act in consequence with what we’ve acclaimed and who we’ve glorified?  Doxologies imply that we’re consistent, they imply we become neighbors, to serve and love just there where life becomes hard, where life is burdened, where it’s dangerous, it’s there where the greatest glorification of God is.    

 

Prayer: Good God, we praise and acclaim you with all our being. Amen.

Glorificar Consecuentemente

Romanos 16:25-27

al único y sabio Dios, por medio de Jesucristo, sea la gloria por siempre.

Romanos 16:27

            Este texto, escrito por el apóstol como despedida de la Carta a los Romanos, sirve de inspiración para componer a modo de doxología un cántico, porque las doxologías son oraciones mediante las cuales glorificamos a nuestro Dios y celebramos comunitariamente a nuestro Señor Jesucristo; son aclamaciones de alabanza usadas en diferentes momentos del servicio.

            Sin embargo, en ocasiones olvidamos que estas oraciones de glorificación a Dios, deben tener consecuencias que traspasen el espacio del domingo, cuando nos encontramos para celebrar la liturgia. Nuestra vida forma parte de esa liturgia, de la glorificación a nuestro Padre y desde este sentido debemos actuar consecuentemente. De qué vale asistir a las celebraciones cultuales y litúrgicas de nuestra iglesia, si eso no transforma nuestra vida, si no nos dispone a actuar en consecuencia con lo que hemos aclamado y a quien hemos glorificado. Las doxologías implican que seamos consecuentes, implica que nos hagamos prójimos, para servir y amar allí donde la vida se hace difícil, donde la vida se carga, donde se hace peligrosa, es allí donde está la mayor glorificación a Dios.

 

Oración: Buen Dios, a ti alabamos y aclamamos incondicionalmente con todo nuestro ser. Amén.
