HOLY, HOLY, HOLY

Psalm 99

Let them praise your great and awesome name. Holy is he!

Psalm 99:3 (NRSV)

            Psalm 99 is an explicit invitation to honor God with our lives by participating continually in prayer and praise. In the Christian’s work these are the fundamental tools for the exaltation of God’s Name. When we pray, we feel in communion with that God who governs and makes the whole earth move before his presence, before the holiness of his Being. When we praise God more than with hymns and words, we do it with our hearts.

            The psalmist, with poetic language, affirms for us our complete belonging to God in such a manner that the expression of this psalm becomes a liturgy of the day. When we approach God, with a heart repentant for our mistakes, with the satisfaction of loving others as ourselves, then, far from instilling fear, God’s response constitutes a wonderful consolation for the believer’s life.

 

Prayer: Lord, let us feel called to enter your house with joy and cause for thanksgiving in such a way that we be worthy of your love and mercy without limits. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Salmo 99

Que todos alaben su nombre porque Dios es santo.

Salmo 99:3

            El Salmo 99 es una invitación explícita a reverenciar a Dios con nuestras vidas, a participar continuamente de la oración y su alabanza. En el quehacer del cristiano, estas son las herramientas fundamentales para la exaltación de su Nombre. Cuando oramos, nos sentimos en comunión con ese Dios que  gobierna y hace que la tierra toda se conmueva ante su presencia, ante la santidad de su Ser. Cuando lo alabamos, más que con himnos y palabras, lo hacemos con el corazón.

El salmista, con un lenguaje poético, nos hace una afirmación a la plena pertenencia a Dios, de manera que la expresión de este salmo se convierte en la liturgia del día. Cuando nos acercamos a Él, con un corazón arrepentido por nuestros errores, con la satisfacción de amar a los otros como a nosotros mismos, entonces, lejos de infundirnos temor, su respuesta constituye un maravilloso consuelo para la vida del creyente.     

 

Oración: Señor, permite que nos sintamos llamados a entrar en tu casa con alegría y motivos de acción de gracias, de manera que seamos dignos de tu amor y tu misericordia sin límites. Por Jesucristo. Amén.
