We trust in him

Isaiah 62:1-4

You shall no more be termed Forsaken, and your land shall no more be termed Desolate; But you shall be called My Delight is in Her, and your land Married; For the Lord delights in you, and your land shall be married.

            When we read this portion of the book of Isaiah we can clearly see the deep love of God for God’s people.  Love that carries within it the comfort and the hope for a hurting people, dazed in faith and losing hope.  The message is passionate and brilliant.  The entire chapter is a balm to heal and restore.  The arrival of God offers a beautiful image that brings happiness, prosperity and the certainty that the days of abandonment and desolation have passed:  like a wedding feast where the bridegroom comes to collect the bride with passionate love.

            On the path of faith this text shows an old but always new hope:  God is with us where the slope is filled with evil, in order to give us the next step.  God is with us in the hard days of losses to tell us:  my love is absolute Presence. 

 

Prayer: God of love and comfort, help us with your Presence that always renews our hopes and our strength.  We trust that your mercy will fill the whole earth and we will see your glory.  Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Confiamos en Él

Isaías 62:1-4

No te llamarán más "Abandonada", ni a tu tierra "Desolada", sino que te llamarán "Mi preferida" y a tu tierra "Desposada". Porque Yahvé se complaceráá en ti y tu tierra tendrá un esposo.

            Cuando leemos esta porción del libro de Isaías podemos ver a las claras el profundo amor de Dios por su pueblo. Amor que lleva en sí mismo el consuelo y la esperanza para un pueblo dolido, aturdido en la fe y desesperanzado. El mensaje es apasionado y brillante. Todo el capítulo es un bálsamo para sanar y restaurar. La llegada de Dios se presenta con una hermosa imagen que trae alegría, prosperidad y la certeza de que los días de desamparo y desolación habrían pasado: una fiesta de bodas, donde el novio viene a desposar a la novia con amor apasionado.

            En el camino de la fe este texto muestra una vieja pero siempre nueva esperanza: Dios está con nosotros allí donde la cuesta es más aviesa, para darnos el aliento de la próxima escalada. Está con nosotros en los días duros de las pérdidas para decirnos: mi amor es presencia absoluta.

 

Oración: Dios de amor y consuelo, asístenos con tu presencia que siempre renueva nuestras esperanzas y nuestras fuerzas. Confiamos en que tu misericordia llenará toda la tierra y veremos tu gloria. Por Jesucristo nuestro Señor. Amén.
