VOICES

Psalm 19: 12-14

May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, oh Lord, my rock and my redeemer. (NIV)

Psalm 19:14

            Reading this Psalm I remembered a biblical commentary that describes it as a song with three voices in counterpoint: the voice of creation, the voice of the word, and the voice of the sinner.

            The order created is manifested, although without language, speaks to our intuition that there exists a glorious God who created such marvels. However, this voice shows limits; it becomes confusing for us to understand God in the beauty of the created.  

            But the Lord doesn’t abandon us in this uncertainty; he speaks to us with his word, which is perfect and bestows wisdom. The word of God inspires authentic objectives and worthy values. Through it (the word) one hears the voice of the sinner who, under the influence of the word, is advised of the consequences (results) of his disobedience. It’s the prayer we raise to the Lord from the depths of our hearts when faced with anguish, uncertainty, or the pain of feeling conscious of our errors and needing his forgiveness.

            If God is known through the word he speaks, must we not as well? Creation is silent, but we shouldn’t be.        

 

Prayer: Good God, thank you for allowing us to be part of this, your world; forgive us and allow us to be part of Your Voice, carrying your word to others as your son Jesus Christ taught us. Amen.

VOCES

Salmo 19: 12-14

Sean aceptables ante ti mis palabras y mis pensamientos, oh SEÑOR, roca mía y redentor mío.

Salmo 19:14

            Leyendo este Salmo recordé un cometario bíblico que lo describe como un canto de tres voces en contrapunteo: la voz de la creación, la voz de la palabra y la voz del pecador.

            El orden creado se manifiesta, aunque sin lenguaje; comunica a nuestra intuición que existe un Dios glorioso que creó tales maravillas. No obstante esta voz se muestra limitada, se nos vuelve confuso entender a Dios en la belleza de lo creado.

            Pero el Señor no nos abandona en esta incertidumbre, nos habla con su palabra que es perfecta y da sabiduría. La palabra de Dios infunde objetivos auténticos, valores dignos. Por ella es que se escucha la voz del pecador que, bajo la influencia de la palabra, está advertidos de los resultados de su desobediencia. Es la oración que elevamos al Señor, desde lo profundo de nuestro corazón ante la angustia, la incertidumbre, o el dolor de sentirnos conscientes de nuestros errores y necesitados de su perdón.

            Si Dios es conocido por la palabra que habla, ¿no hemos de serlo igualmente nosotros? La creación guarda silencio pero nosotros no debemos hacerlo.

 

Oración: Buen Dios, gracias por permitirnos ser parte de éste, tu mundo, perdónanos y permite que podamos ser parte de Tu Voz, llevando a otros tu Palabra, como nos enseñó tu hijo Jesucristo. Amén.
