Day of Thanksgiving

THE SON OF GOD

HEBREWS 1:5-12

For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you”? Or again, “I will be his Father, and he will be my Son”?

Hebrews 1:5 (NRSV)

            The letter to the Hebrews gives us a Christocentric message from the very beginning, showing Christ’s superiority over all that was created.

            In the midst of our tiredness in following Jesus, these texts permit us to rediscover the priesthood of Christ, and for our bond of unity with Him we feel responsible to secure our faith and reaffirm the faith of people who many times do not clearly see the signs of hope.  We find life with Jesus is the top award and also has the greatest responsibilities.  In Jesus and through Jesus salvation is given, not as a future event but as a present reality that we discover in the walk of faith. 

 

Prayer: Loving God, give us the grace of your Presence so that our life, at the beginning of a new year, might be a testimony to the greatness of Jesus, giving us sufficient strength so that each day we can show to those who are at our side that in Christ is the longed-for salvation.  Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Día de Acción de Gracias 

El hijo de Dios

Hebreos  1:5-12

Dios nunca le dijo esto a ninguno de los ángeles: "Tú eres mi Hijo, hoy me he convertido en tu Padre". Tampoco dijo de ningún ángel: "Yo seré su Padre, y él será mi Hijo".

            La carta a los hebreos desde sus inicios nos da un claro mensaje cristocéntrico, mostrando su superioridad a todo lo creado.

            En medio del cansancio en el seguimiento a Jesús, estos textos nos permiten redescubrir el sacerdocio de Cristo, y por nuestro vínculo de unión con Él sentirnos responsables de afianzar nuestra fe y reafirmar la del pueblo que muchas veces no ve claro los signos de esperanza. Encontrarnos con Jesús es el máximo galardón y también la más grande de las responsabilidades. En Jesús y por Jesús se da la salvación, no como evento únicamente futurista sino como una realidad presente que descubrimos en el andar de  la fe.

 

Oración: Amoroso Dios, concédenos la gracia de tu presencia para que nuestra vida, al comienzo del nuevo año, sea un testimonio de la grandeza de Jesús, danos fortaleza suficiente para que cada día podamos mostrar, a los que están a nuestro lado, que en Él está la salvación tan anhelada. Por Jesucristo nuestro señor. Amén.
