THE FUTURE

Haggai 2:18-19

... Until now, the vine in the fig tree, the pomegranate and the olive tree have not borne fruit. From this day on I will bless you.

Haggai 2:19b

            The future is hidden from us. However, here we have a mirror in which we can see the days ahead. The Lord says, “From today on I will bless you.”

            The day to which this promise refers is worth noting. There had been a bad harvest, and east wind, and all because of the sin of his people. Now the Lord saw that these who had been punished began to obey his Word, to build his temple, and therefore he says, “Today… The foundations of my temple have been laid. Starting today I will bless you.” If we have lived in any sin, and the spirit guides us to turn away from it, we can count on the Lord’s blessing. His smile, his Spirit, his grace, and the broad revelation of his truth all manifest an increased blessing to us. Perhaps we will suffer greater opposition because of our faithfulness, but we will rise to a more intimate communion with the Lord our God, and a clearer view of our acceptance of him.

 

Prayer: Lord, I am willing to be more faithful to you, and I therefore beg you to increase the blessing of my daily life. Amen.

EL FUTURO

Hageo 2:18-19

...ni la vid, ni la higuera, ni  el granado, ni el árbol de olivo ha florecido todavía; mas desde este día os bendeciré

Hageo 2:19b

            Lo futuro está escondido de nosotros. Sin embargo, aquí tenemos un espejo en el cual podemos ver los días venideros. El Señor dice: a partir de hoy, yo los bendeciré.

            Vale la pena notar el día  al cual se refiere esta promesa. Había habido mala cosecha, viento solano, y todo a causa del pecado de su pueblo. Ahora el Señor vio que estos que habían sido castigados empezaban a obedecer su Palabra, y a edificar su  templo, y por lo tanto dice:  Hoy…… han sido puestos los cimientos de mi templo. A partir de hoy, yo los bendeciré. Si hemos vivido en cualquier pecado, y el espíritu nos guía a apartarnos de ello, podemos contar con la bendición del Señor. Su sonrisa, su Espíritu, su gracia y la revelación amplia de su verdad, todo  nos manifiesta una bendición aumentada. Sufriremos tal vez mayor oposición a causa de nuestra fidelidad, pero nos elevaremos a una comunión más íntima con el Señor nuestro Dios, y a una vista más clara de nuestra aceptación en Él.

 

Oración: Señor, estoy dispuesto a serte más fiel, y te ruego por tanto que aumentes la bendición de mi vida diaria. Amén.
