DO WHAT YOU WANT

Psalm 100

Know that the Lord is God–he made us; we belong to him. We are his people, the sheep of his own pasture.

Psalm 100:3 (CEB)

            In the hymn “Have Thine Own Way, Lord”, we find these beautiful words: “You are the potter, I am the clay.” These words stir up emotions and provoke the desire to allow God to mold us and make us in his image.  What a difficult thing to do!  We struggle to create our own world, to make a plan, to complete it.  Nevertheless, God asks us to allow him to reign freely.  The sheep follow their shepherd and trust in him for their sustenance and care, knowing that the shepherd knows everything.  What a spoken image so marvelously relevant:  to trust in the guidance and timing of God, and to follow God’s steps!

            Asking God to take control is a simple prayer, but it is not an easy task. In obedience to God’s Word, we can ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit and recognize that we do not have control.  Without God’s participation in each of life’s challenges, it is impossible to continue forward.  This is a day to recognize that we should wait peacefully, with a calm heart.  Let us decide to listen and follow. 

 

Prayer: Lord, we humbly bow before you and we ask your divine guidance.  Help us to follow your plan with surrendered hearts, always ready to leave up to you the control of our lives.  Amen.

HAZ LO QUE QUIERAS

Salmo 100

Reconozcan que el Señor es Dios; él nos hizo y somos suyos. Somos su pueblo, ovejas de su prado.

Salmo 100:3

            En el himno: “Haz lo quieras de mí, Señor”, se encuentran unas bellas palabras que dicen: “Tú el alfarero, yo el barro soy”. Estas palabras agitan las emociones y provocan el deseo de permitir que Dios nos molde y nos haga a su imagen. ¡Qué cosa tan difícil de hacer! Luchamos por crear nuestro propio  mundo, por  hacer un plan, por cumplirlo. Sin embargo, Dios nos pide que le permitamos reinar libremente. Las ovejas siguen a  su pastor y confían en él para su sustento y cuidado, sabiendo que el pastor lo sabe todo. ¡Qué imagen verbal tan maravillosamente relajante: confiar en la dirección y el tiempo de Dios, y seguir sus pasos!

            Pedirle que Él tome el control es una oración sencilla, pero no es tarea fácil. En obediencia a su Palabra podemos pedir la dirección del Espíritu Santo y reconocer que no tenemos el control. Sin su participación en cada reto de nuestra vida es imposible seguir hacia adelante. Este es un día para reconocer que debemos  esperar tranquilamente, con el corazón en calma. Decidamos escuchar y seguir.

 

Oración: Señor, humildemente nos inclinamos ante ti y te pedimos tu dirección divina. Ayúdanos a seguir tu plan con corazones rendidos, siempre dispuestos a dejarte a ti el control de nuestras vidas. Amén.
