Christ the King Sunday

THE KING OF OUR LIVES

Revelation 1:4-19

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.

Revelation 1:8 (NRSV)

 

              Acknowledging that Christ is our King does not mean that we are subject to illusory effects and have wanted to reward our leader; nor does it mean that we want to make the world believe that we are protected by a supernatural power.

              Saying that Christ is our King means that our life is not ended with death, but that it has a “forever in God.” It means not speaking of ourselves, because he became the everlasting “I.” Finally, saying now and always that Christ is our King is to love Him and those around us with the same strength that led him to die on the cross for all humanity.

 

Prayer: Lord, may the strength of your love transform us into better Christians every day, and thereby may we be able to bear witness that Christ is the only King of our lives. Amen.

Domingo de Cristo Rey

EL REY DE NUESTRAS VIDAS

Apocalipsis 1:4-19

“Yo soy el Alfa y la Omega”-dice Dios, Aquel que es, que era y que viene, el Todopoderoso.

Apocalipsis 1:8

            Reconocer que Cristo es nuestro Rey no significa que estamos sometidos a efectos ilusorios y hemos querido galardonar a nuestro líder; ni hacerle creer al mundo que estamos protegidos por un poder sobrenatural.

            Decir que Cristo es nuestro Rey significa que reconocemos que Él es el Hijo de Dios, que formó parte de la humanidad, que predicó la Buena Nueva de Dios con palabras y obras, que fue crucificado por salvarnos de nuestros pecados. Significa comprometerse con su proyecto de salvación, no ser sólo “cristianos de banco”, sino tomar presencia activa en los sufrimientos del mundo y darse por completo al servicio de los más necesitados.

            Decir hoy que Cristo es nuestro Rey significa que nuestra vida no se acaba con la muerte, sino que tiene un “para siempre en Dios”. Significa no hablar de nosotros mismos porque Él pasó a ser el eternamente “Yo”. En fin, decir hoy y siempre que Cristo es nuestro Rey, es amar a los demás y a Él, con la misma fuerza que lo llevó a morir en la cruz por la humanidad.

 

Oración: Señor, que la fuerza de tu amor nos transforme en mejores cristianos cada día, y que así podamos dar testimonio de que Cristo es el único Rey de nuestras vidas. Amén.
