THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD

Philippians 3:4-8

For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.

Hosea 6:6 (NRSV)

            The verb TO KNOW and its derivatives appear some 539 times in the Bible. The theme of the reflection is based on texts that call attention to knowing the truth, knowing the love of Christ, knowing God, which appear about 60 times relating such knowledge not to a theoretical acceptance of the divine but to the complete fulfillment of his commands of love.

-Ephesians 3:19          to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

-Philippians 3:8           More than that, I regard everything as loss because of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.

-1 Timothy 2:4            God our Savior, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

-Hebrews 10:26          For if we willfully persist in sin after having received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins

            Are we aware that lying, egotism and impiety are the result of lacking love for God and neighbor, which leads to chaos and self-destruction? That’s why the biblical message always urges repentance, turning to God and worshiping in spirit and in truth.

 

Prayer: Eternal Father, give us always the knowledge to apply whatever you command us to do in truth, mercy, and submission to your Glory and Honor. Amen.

EL CONOCIMIENTO DE DIOS

Filipenses 3:4-8

Porque misericordia quiero, y no sacrificio, y conocimiento de Dios más que holocaustos

Oseas 6:6

            El verbo CONOCER\ y sus derivados aparece unas 539 veces en la Biblia. El tema de la reflexión está basado en textos que llaman la atención a conocer la verdad, conocer el amor de Cristo, conocer a Dios, que aparecen unas 60 veces para relacionar dicho conocimiento no con una aceptación teórica de la divinidad sino con el cumplimiento cabal de sus mandatos de amor.

-Efesios 3:19 “y de conocer el amor de Cristo, que excede a todo conocimiento, para que seáis llenos de toda la plenitud de Dios”.

-Filipenses 3:8 “Y ciertamente, aun estimo todas las cosas como pérdida por la excelencia del conocimiento de Cristo Jesús, mi Señor, por amor del cual lo he perdido todo, y lo tengo por basura, para ganar a Cristo”.

-1 Timoteo 2:4 "el cual quiere que todos los hombres sean salvos y vengan al conocimiento de la verdad".

-Hebreos 10:26 “Porque si pecáremos voluntariamente después de haber recibido el conocimiento de la verdad, ya no queda más sacrificio por los pecados”.

            ¿Somos conscientes de que la mentira, el egoísmo y la impiedad son resultado de la falta de amor a Dios y al prójimo, que conllevan al caos y autodestrucción? Por ello el mensaje bíblico siempre exhorta al arrepentimiento, al volverse a Dios y adorarle en espíritu y en verdad.

 

Oración: Padre Eterno, danos siempre el conocimiento para aplicar lo que nos mandes realizar en la verdad, la misericordia y la entrega, para tu Gloria y Honra. Amén.
