Rise and Walk

Matthew 9: 1-8

But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he then said to the paralytic—“Stand up, take your bed and go to your home.”

In Matthew 9:1-8 we are taught about Jesus’ power and authority to pardon sins and to heal illnesses. Jesus transformed the live of that paralytic and of those who witnessed the miracle. Today we have been witnesses to the power that Jesus Christ continues holding for humanity. Jesus is still transforming lives, physically and spiritually.

We need Jesus to lift us from our inertias and decadences. No doubt there are situations in life that paralize us, moments so unthinkable and sad that it seems they would never end. We become unable to follow, to walk, and to love. We lose faith, the will to live, and all hope. We welcome the day and  bid it farewell as if the sun and stars were out for us. We start to make room for sadness, rancor, guilt and fear. But in that same moment, the text reminds us that no matter how difficult the situation, how sad the moment, how guilty we may be for what we are enduring and suffering, we can reconsider, overcome, amend, rise and walk, continuing on filled with opportunities, being whole and new creatures in Christ.

 

Prayer: Jesus, forgive us for the ill that we have done. Lift us from our sadnesses and despairs and show us the road to travel. Fill us with strength and courage in our lives and give us the ability to walk in faith and living hope. Amen.

Levántate y anda

Mateo 9: 1-8

Pues voy a demostrarles que el Hijo del hombre tieneautoridad en la tierra para perdonar pecados. Entonces ledijo al paralítico: Levántate, toma tu camilla y vete a tu casa.

En Mateo 9: 1-8 se nos enseña sobre el poder y la autoridadde Jesús para perdonar los pecados y sanar enfermedades. Jesús transformó la vida de aquel paralítico y de quienes fueron testigos de tal milagro. Hoy nosotros hemos sido testigos del poder que Jesucristo continúa teniendo en la humanidad. Aún Jesús sigue transformando vidas, física y espiritualmente.

Necesitamos que Jesús nos levante de nuestras inercias y decadencias. Sin dudas hay situaciones que nos paralizan enla vida. Momentos impensables y tan dolorosos como sinunca fuera a terminar. Quedamos incapaces de seguir, andar, y amar. Perdemos la fe, las ganas de vivir, y todas las esperanzas. Recibimos el día y lo despedimos como si nos aliera el sol ni las estrellas. Empezamos a hacer espacios para el dolor, los rencores, las culpas y el miedo. Pero en ese mismo instante, el texto nos recuerda que por muy difícil que sea la situación, por muy doloroso que sea el momento, por muy culpables que seamos de lo que estamos pasando y sufriendo, podemos recapacitar, superarlo, enmendarlo, levantarnos y andar. Continuar llenos de oportunidades siendo sanas y nuevas criaturas en Cristo.

 

Oración: Jesús, perdónanos por todo el mal que hemos hecho. Levántanos de nuestras tristezas y desesperanzas y muéstranos el camino a seguir. Llénanos de fuerzas y desentido nuestras vidas y danos la capacidad de andar con fe y esperanza viva. Amén.
