AND FOR YOU, WHO IS JESUS?

Mark 8:27-33

He asked them, “And, what about you? Who do you say that I am?”Peter answered, “You are the Christ.”

A very clear concern grows in the gospel of Mark: to discover who is Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus has announced the gospel in many places; he has done miracles and signs. The evangelist has shown us in his texts the reactions of different people in the presence of Jesus like people who are sick, the scribes, the Pharisees, and the disciples.

He confronts the disciples with a question, while at the same time leaving it open for us today: “and you, who do you say that I am?” It is the eternal question that never gets fully answered. It is more than a definition, it involves a personal experience. It is the question that challenges us from faith and confronts us in our daily lives–at home, work, school, etc. It is in our daily actions where we respond to this question, not with borrowed phrases or someone else’s experiences. Jesus looks for your answer and tells you: this is between you and me.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to meet you, to walk with you and to be able to say who you are for me through each action of my life. Amen.

¿Y PARA TI, QUIÉN ES JESÚS?

Marcos 8:27-33

“Entonces él les dijo: Y vosotros ¿Quién decís que soy yo? Respondiendo Pedro, le dijo: Tú eres el Cristo”

En el evangelio de Marcos aflora una inquietud bien clara: descubrir quién es Jesús de Nazaret. Jesús ha anunciado el evangelio por muchas partes; ha realizado milagros y señales. El evangelista nos ha ido mostrando en sus textos, la reacción de diferentes personajes ante la presencia de Jesús como los enfermos, los escribas, los fariseos, los discípulos.

Confronta a los discípulos con la pregunta, a la vez que la deja abierta para nosotros: “y vosotros ¿Quién decís que soy yo?” Es la pregunta eterna, que aún no termina de responderse, pues más que una definición, involucra la experiencia personal. Es la pregunta que nos reta desde la fe y confronta con nuestra cotidianidad, hogar, trabajo, escuela, etc. Es en nuestro actuar diario, donde respondemos esta pregunta, no con frases prestadas o experiencias ajenas. Jesús busca tu respuesta y te dice: esto es entre tú y yo.  

Oración: Señor Jesús ayúdame a encontrarme contigo, a caminar contigo, y poder decir, quién eres para mí en cada acción de mi vida. Amén.
