THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6

INSTRUMENTS OF HIS PEACE

Mark 6, 7-13

So they went out and proclaimed that all should repent. They cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.

Mark 6, 12-13 (NRSV)

The experience of knowing Jesus, of having him close, of learning from his teachings not only meant personal growth for his disciples and a recognition of another way of living their lives, but it also required them to continue on the path by sharing everything they had received by grace. Jesus’ disciples understood how much healing and goodness they could do in the world if the Teacher’s message of love and justice was spread like fertile seeds, so many of them dedicaded themselves to sharing this good news. Today, as his followers, we also continue with the responsibility of sharing the love which he has taught us. Today the demons of hatred, apathy, and despair must be expelled from our communities through that witness of faith in a God of caring which helps to heal so many wounds that our people suffer. Let’s go out into the world offering all that we have received from Jesus; we don’t need any material things, only the assurance that he sends us as instruments of his peace.

Prayer: Jesus of the way, may we go out to the encounter with our times with actions that announce your love. Amen.

INSTRUMENTOS DE SU PAZ

Marcos 6, 7-13

¨Los discípulos se fueron a predicar el arrepentimiento. Expulsaban a los demonios, ungían con aceite a los enfermos y los curaban.¨

Marcos 6, 7-13

La experiencia de conocer a Jesús, de tenerle cerca, de aprender de sus enseñanzas no solo significaba para sus discípulos un crecimiento personal y un reconocimiento de otra manera de vivir sus vidas, sino que imponía continuar el camino compartiendo todo lo que por gracia recibieron. Las y los discípulos de Jesús comprendieron cuanta sanidad y bien podían hacer al mundo, si el mensaje de amor y justicia del Maestro era esparcido como semilla fértil, y así, muchas/os dedicaron su vida a compartir esa buena noticia. Hoy, como sus seguidores, también continuamos con la responsabilidad de compartir el amor que nos fue enseñado. Hoy, los demonios del odio y el egoísmo, de la apatía y la desesperanza, deben ser expulsados de nuestras comunidades, por ese testimonio de fe en un Dios de cuidados, que ayuda a sanar tantas heridas que sufre nuestro pueblo. Salgamos al mundo a ofrecer lo mucho que hemos recibido de Jesús, para ello no necesitamos nada material, solo la seguridad de que él nos envía para ser instrumentos de su paz.

Oración: Jesús del camino, que vayamos al encuentro de nuestro tiempo, con las acciones que anuncien tu amor, Amén.
