THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 13

WITHOUT FAITH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE GOD

Mark 7: 24-30

“Lord,” she replied, “even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”

This woman who came to Jesus because her daughter was sick was not Jewish. Jesus did not answer her because God does not always answer our requests immediately.

Jesus was sent by his Father to bring salvation to the Jews. He said this to test her faith. In any home, children are fed first and then the animals. God never said that he would bless only the Jews. Christ is light for the Jews and for the Gentiles, for everyone.

But the woman replied that we Gentiles also feed ourselves with the crumbs of the children that fall from the table. In another look at the same moment, she becomes part of it, she wants to be close to the table of the Lord. If Jesus gave her just one drop of mercy it would be enough to heal her daughter. A small portion of Jesus, a tiny portion of the bread of life. This shows how great true faith is. Without faith it is impossible to please God.

Prayer: Beloved Father, let us be your daughters and sons with our faith and testimony, that we may always sit at your table, and bring others to your encounter. Amen.

SIN FE ES IMPOSIBLE AGRADAR A DIOS.

Marcos 7: 24-30

Pero Señor, hasta los perros comen debajo de la mesa, las migajas que dejan caer los hijos.

Marcos 7:28

Esta mujer que se acerca a Jesús porque su hija estaba enferma no era judía. Jesús no le contestó porque Dios siempre no contesta enseguida nuestras peticiones.

Jesús fue enviado por su Padre a traer salvación a los judíos. Dijo esto para probar su fe. En cualquier hogar a los niños se la da de comer primero y luego a los animales. Dios nunca dijo que bendeciría únicamente a los judíos. Cristo es luz para los judíos y para los gentiles, para todas y todos.

Pero la mujer respondió que los gentiles también nos alimentamos con las migajas de los hijos que caen de la mesa. En otra mirada al mismo momento, ella se hace parte, ella quiere estar cerca de la mesa del Señor. Si Jesús le daba solo una gota de misericordia le bastaría para sanar a su hija. Una pequeña porción de Jesús, una pequeñita porción del pan de vida. Esto demuestra cuán grande es una fe verdadera. Sin fe es imposible agradar a Dios.

Oración: Padre amado, permite que con nuestra fe y testimonio podamos ser hijas e hijos tuyos, que siempre podamos sentarnos en tu mesa, y traer a otras y otros al encuentro. Amén.
