LOVE IS TO ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM

Mark 12:28-34

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

Today we remember that faith is not measured by the number of rules followed or by the repetition of rituals. To the scribe’s question about the most important commandment, Jesus answers: “love God and love your neighbor as yourself.” This commandment reveals two sides of the same coin: we cannot love God without loving our neighbor, nor can we love our neighbor without that love being born of God. Love is the true sacrifice. Jesus tells the scribe: “You are not far from the Kingdom of God,” inviting us also not to remain focused on the external but to let love transform our lives and the way we see ourselves in others. Every gesture of mercy, word of comfort, act of justice, is a concrete way of living this commandment. To love is to enter the Kingdom.

Prayer: God, teach us to love as you do. May your Spirit guide us to live this commandment as a path to your Kingdom. Through Jesus Christ. Amen.

AMAR ES ENTRAR EN EL REINO

Marcos 12:28-34

“Y amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma, y con toda tu mente y con todas tus fuerzas. … Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo…”

Hoy recordamos que la fe no se mide por la cantidad de normas cumplidas ni por la repetición de ritos. A la pregunta del escriba, sobre el mandamiento más importante, Jesús responde: amar a Dios y amar al prójimo como a uno mismo.  Este mandamiento revela dos caras de una misma moneda: no podemos amar a Dios sin amar al prójimo, ni amar al prójimo sin que ese amor nazca de Dios. El amor es el verdadero sacrificio.Jesús le dice al escriba: No estás lejos del Reino de Dios, invitándonos también a no quedarnos en lo externo sino a dejar que el amor transforme nuestra vida y la manera cómo nos vemos en los demás. Cada gesto de misericordia, palabra de consuelo, acto de justicia, es una manera concreta de vivir este   mandamiento. Amar, es entrar en el Reino. 

Oración: Dios, enséñanos a amar como tú. Que tu Espíritu nos guíe a vivir este mandamiento como camino hacia tu Reino. Por Jesucristo. Amén.
